Sudip's resignation from Opposition Lead | AGARTALA, April 8 (TIWN): The sudden resignation of Sudip Roy Barman as Congress Legislative Party (CLP) Leader has once again raised the question whether its an old game being played by Chief Minister Manik Sarkar in order to ensure that his tenure as Tripura CM lasts for a longer term beyond 2018 Assembly elections? As all credit goes to Manik’s 'closed door deal ' with opposition party leaders. Since the beginning of West Bengal poll a group of Congress leadership led by Sudip Roy Barman has been active in the state campaigning that the so called CPI-M- Congress alliance in West Bengal is against the interests of the thousands of Congress workers in Tripura. And accordingly, CPI-M party strategically remained busy to ensure that the main opposition in the State remains in the hands of Sudip Roy Barman & Co like the once popular group of Barman Senior and Co.According to political analysts, over two decades long regime of Manik Sarkar at the helm of Tripura CM has been possible due to the CPI-M party's secret understanding with the Congress. Manik Sarkar gauged the fact that Mamata's TMC is real enemy in Tripura after seven Congress MLAs, majority of Congress join Trinamul, so wily Manik making sure TMC's Tripura heads can be remote controlled to benefit CPI-M. | 07-Apr-2016 |

This time, the situation is different. Even in faraway Delhi, people are keeping tabs on political developments in Assam. One reason for this piquing of interest could be the presence of a relatively new entrant in Assam politics, the BJP.
