MBB State University : new drama of qual | AGARTALA, April 2 (TIWN): Keeping a few lakhs of youth unemployed in the state, Tripura government is all set to begin with the new state university from August to provide quality education to the people and nil employment in returns. It is to be mentioned here that the stage is all set to start to start new state university functioning from August. Kolkata's Jadavpur University Professor Gautam Bose has been selected as the vice chancellor of the new university. The left front government in Tripura has decided to set up a ‘state university’ to improve the scope of higher education. The government plans to launch the university at Maharaja Bir Bikram College, which has a large campus, to encourage teaching environment in the capital city. To widen the higher education scope the state came up with this proposal of establishing this new state University other than already running Tripura Central University. Indeed SMART city ‘Agartala†| AGARTALA, April 2 (TIWN): CPI-M rule over last two decades converted Agartala indeed a ‘SMART (?) city’ as Manik Sarkar’s illiterate Ministers and bureaucrats cemented all drains in Agartala, which not only clogged drainage systems but flood city after every splash. Tripura’s highflying Transport Minister Manik Dey ( a former bus conductor) claims a lot about upcoming hi-tech projects for Tripura as Airport Expansion, SMART City planning, Roadway developments, Transport Minister was spotted to pass Agartala City’s water-logged areas with hardships after the rain on Friday. Manik Dey, on Friday was passing through the road from Ganaraj Chowmuhani towards Jail road, but his vehicle had to struggle through the flooded road due to water logging. After every rain, roads turns into drains as Agartala’s sewage system failed completely under the corrupt PWD and AMC (Agartala Municipal Corporation). Agartala’s poor sewage systems, clogged drains are a far cry from so called ‘SMART City’. Agartala’s poor plight shows that irrespective of hundreds of crores being pumped by Central Govt, ADB, other financial institutions for modernizing infrastructures, however Agartala cannot turn ‘SMART’ with the present bunch of dumb city planners, Ministers and officials. | 01-Apr-2016 |

Terror of flyover collapse in Tripura pr | AGARTALA, April 2 (TIWN): Just before people could recover from the shock of flyover collapse at Kolkata, panic and terror ran high among the people here after witnessing a crippled road at Battala in the flyover construction site which can lead to major accidents at any moment. It is to be mentioned here that fear gripped people when the road at Battala connecting server other routes collapsed blocking the traffic movement. The common public on Friday alleged slow progress in the construction work of the fly-over at Battala junction. Talking to TIWN correspondent on Friday, the public at battala alleged that the construction work is undergoing in slow progress and there is no development in the site. The localities also said that, comparing to the prior days the work progress has slowed down after the collection of the sample for the soil test. Flyover construction delays : Sudden cha | AGARTALA, April 1 (TIWN): Sudden change in transport movement from Battala towards Chandrapur and from Battala to GB has given tough time to the common people on Friday morning during the wee hours. Going forward with the first ever fly-over construction in Tripura, the traffic movement from Battala towards GB and Chandrapur is diverted through Battala cremation road from Friday to conduct the drilling work at Battala. Many vehicles including bikes, autos, bus, and rickshaws all stranded for long hours in the road as traffic movement was vigorously disrupted. For the next two years and possibly more the traffic congestion is going to get worse. Once flyover is constructed, vehicles from the Nagerjala bus stand will continue to ply on the same path which is expected to reduced the traffic congestion. BJP seeks CBI inquiry in flyover tragedy | KOLKATA / AGARTALA, April 1 (TIWN): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday sought a CBI inquiry into the collapse of a flyover here that killed 23 people, and said the corrupt nexus between the West Bengal government and the opposition has been exposed. "It is an act of fraud protected by the state government. The nexus of corruption between the Trinamool Congress and the Left party which is in the opposition has been exposed," union Minister of State for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told reporters. He said the state government has deliberately tried to protect the fraud involved in awarding of contract for building the Vivekananda Road Flyover in Posta area that collapsed. "It is clearly visible that the contract was given to a black-listed company and the work was not completed on time. We seek a CBI inquiry into the entire matter," said Naqvi. Otherwise how CPI-M will explain that in 2007, Bengal Govt picked a tainted Hyderabad based company IVRCL Infrastructures and Projects Ltd, against this company multiple cases listed nationwide for cheating, corruption, even Jharkhand Govenment recommended CBI probe in 2010 and blacklisted IVRCL for bribing former CM Madhu Koda to bag Rs 410-crore rural electrification project.
