India-Bangladesh to extend fisheries pac | AGARTALA / DHAKA, April 13 (TIWN): On the eve of Bengali New Year its a great news that India, Bangladesh jointly working towards extending fisheries pact which will benefit Tripura on Hilsa fish import from Bangladesh.India and Bangladesh may extend an agreement on fisheries and promotion of aquaculture, union agriculture ministry sources said on Wednesday.The agreement -- signed in September 2011 -- is set to expire in six months. It could be extended if the two countries agree to its continuation.The agreement envisaged training of people in fish stock assessment, post-harvest technology, freshwater pearl culture, Hilsa fisheries management, protection of biological diversity vis-a-vis fisheries development, fish production and distribution. A ministry statement said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was apprised of the memorandum of understanding on the agreement during a cabinet meeting on Wednesday morning. "The MoU strengthened the bilateral friendly relations and promoted cooperation in fisheries and aquaculture sector. Internal clash hits CPI-M: disapproval o | AGARTALA, April 13 (TIWN): Showing disapproval over alliance issue between CPI-M and Congress, two of the CPI-M members were expelled from the party of Wednesday. Two CPI-M members of Teliamura Division committee Arabinda Lahari and Dipak Roy from CPI-M branch committee were expelled after they had shown disproval over the alliance issue. According to the sources, two of the CPI-M candidates were suspended after they had shown disapproval in alliance issue between CPI-M and congress. It is to be mentioned here that, a politics of compulsion has pushed the CPI (M) and the Congress closer. The growing clamour for alliance between the Congress and the CPI (M) is left in unsolved stage in Tripura after about 38 has resigned from the party. The much hyped internet bandwidth service which was inaugurated with much enthusiasm on March 23 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladeshi Premier Sheikh Hasina through video conferencing is although now providing service from Bangladesh without any hurdles but so far there is no visible development in the service. According to BSNL high official there is no problem in getting service. Now question arises if there is no problem in getting service then why there is no development in the service. In a press conference of Tripura Police, the arrested NLFT has deposited one AK-47, two SLR, one Insus riffle, one G-3 rifle, two grenades, 369 live cartridges and twelve magazines. Birajit supports Sudip's sentimnet again | AGARTALA, April 11 (TIWN): Commenting on the sudden resign of three party members of Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee, PCC President Birajit Sinha claims that the party totally condemns the alliance of the Congress party with the CPI-M. Talking to TIWN correspondent, PCC President Birajit Sinha stated that Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee was always against the party alliance. He further mentioned that Tripura Congress party was totally against the decision of the alliance from the beginning itself. Regretting over the issue of sudden resignation of the party members, Sinha said that it is totally a decision of particular person that they are interested to work for the party or not. He further said that there is nothing in his hand or to comment over the issue. Later, again stressing over the alliance issue he stated that Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee is never going to support the alliance on the state. WB poll to decide the fate of Cong / CPI | AGARTALA / KOLKATA, April 11 (TIWN): Amid great enthusiasm and long queues outside booths, polling began in 31 constituencies spread over three districts in part two of the opening phase of the West Bengal assembly elections on Monday.Thirteen of the constituencies are in West Midnapore and nine each are in Bankura and Burdwan. An electorate of nearly 70 lakh (69,79,788), including 33,68,311 females and 50 third genders, are eligible to choose their representatives from a field of 163 candidates. Twenty one of the contestants are women. Voting will be held across 8,465 polling stations including two auxiliary stations amid high security. The Trinamool, the LF-Congress combine and the BJP are locking horns in all the seats. Among the LF constituents, the CPI-M has put up 19 candidates, followed by the Communist Party of India, Revolutionary Socialist Party, All India Forward Bloc and the Democratic Socialist Party (Prabodh Chandra) in one each.
