AGARTALA, April 7 (TIWN): People at the GB hospital on Thursday narrowly escaped from a massive fire break out due to the electricity malfunctioning at the premises of the NICU block of the GB hospital. Massive electricity malfunctioning has spread wide panic in the hospital premises. Patients were distressed as the electricity outage could have led to massive fire incident in the entire premises of the hospital. The process for controlling the fire began approximately after few minutes of the electricity malfunctioning incident. Panic gripped the area, when such a incident broke out in the hospital. Reportedly, the incident took place in the early hours of Thursday morning when the patients and their family members along with staffs of the hospital realised a technical fault in the electricity connection which could have led to massive fire break out. This is one of the oldest hospitals in the state and is also the state referral hospital. However, the people and the patients narrowly escaped from a massive fire incident as the technical fault in the electricity connection was brought under control with the initiatives of the common people at the hospital.

There is no report of any suspicious incident behind the technical fault of the electricity connection and also there is no report of casualty so far, confirmed common people.

A tragedy was narrowly averted at a hospital after a following fault in electricity connection in the premises. The occurrence of the incident saw dozens of patients being evacuated although nobody was reported injured in the incident

The sudden spread of fire created panic among the hospital staff and the patients. The staff came in action and shifted the patients to the adjacent blocks.

The patients alleged that despite of several tall claims by the authority to provide better health service to the people of the State, people face negligence in the major referral Hospital of the State, GB Hospital.

The situation, however, has not improved at the GB hospital during the last few years as far as arrangements are concerned. Stinking ward and untidy beds have become a common sight.

Most of the health centres of the outskirts refer the patients to the GB Hospital and here they get such treatment. Often fringing from such long distance like Udaipur, Belonia and many more the patient dies on the way.

However, initiatives must be taken to improve the health service of the State. With the improvement of the health service the poor will be benefited as they don’t have to spend money by cutting their pockets for the treatment outside the State.
