People are anticipating that BG Passenger train service will start from 7th May 2016 between SILCHAR-AGARTALA. The long wait of northeastern state of Tripura would like to have direct broad-gauge rail connectivity with rest of India soon. Karimgang,Dharmanagar & Agartala found place in the railway map of India in the year 2016 .A daily express train ran between Lumding and Agartala. Since October last year, metre-gauge train services between Lumding and Karimganj stations (distance 203 km) were stopped for undertaking ‘Mega Block’ of Lumding-Badarpur-Silchar section. The Lumding-Agartala express train too stopped its operations and a passenger train plied between Karimganj and Agartala till its services too were withdrawn for broad conversion of Badarpur-Karimganj-Agartala section. The passenger train services are yet to resume on the newly converted track.Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) sources said the pace of conversion work on Badarpur-Agartala section would be faster than the Lumding-Badarpur-Silchar section as the metre-gauge tracks between Kumarghat and Agartala (distance 107 km) were laid keeping in mind the need of future conversion project. | 19-Apr-2016 |
Tripura's Marxist Chief Minister to camp | AGARTALA, April 19 (TIWN / IANS): CPI-M politburo member Manik Sarkar, who is also the chief minister of India's only Left-ruled state Tripura, left for Kolkata on Tuesday to campaign for the party candidates contesting in the ongoing West Bengal assembly elections. "Sarkar will address several election rallies in North 24-Parganas and Hooghly districts on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday," a leader of Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) told IANS. Manik Sarkar, who had already campaigned for the Left parties' candidates seeking election to the Assam assembly, would also campaign later in Kerala and Tamil Nadu where assembly elections are being held. The party also held a massive rally in the state on Sunday pitching their voice high in the state for observing strike on April 18. Sinha further said that following the report of the Justice Yusuf Commission, which inquired into the assassination of Bimal Sinha, it is clear that Chief Minister Manik Sarkar was involved in his murder for political reasons," Congress has demand CBI inquiry into the assassination and immediate resignation of Sarkar from the post of Chief Minister. BG freight train derailed at Agartala-Bi | AGARTALA, April 17 (TIWN): Where the people of the landlocked state were waiting for the commencement of BG passenger train by the end of this month, the people received a jolt with the information about the derailment of BG Goods train at Agartala-Bisramganj route on Sunday.In another major shock to the state, after the collapse of the rail shed the derailment of the goods train has sent shock waves. Derailment in the newly laid BG track in Tripura has damaged tracks. Derailments not only caused delay in movement of other freight trains but also incurred heavy loss to Indian Railways. Indo-Bangla security forces flush out mi | AGARTALA, April 17 (TIWN): Reacting over the NLFT militants latest surrender and various untoward incidents recently took place in border, Sepahijala SP Pradip De told TIWN that the long unfenced border of around 9 km under Sonamura is still creating daily problems for Police and BSF as porous border being used by smugglers to militants to destabilize law & order situation. “Border fencing work is ongoing , even 3 km fencing work has been completed , but still 8 to 9 km border is left unfenced which is acting a grave threat to the security of the subdivisionâ€, added SP Pradip De. Agartala's earthquake preparedness NIL: | AGARTALA, April 16 (TIWN): After the April 13th massive 6.9 magnitude earthquake affecting the whole eastern plateau affecting Delhi to Agartala to Myanmar region, Modi led Union Govt put emphasis on earthquake prone 107 towns/cities to upgrade diaster-management expertises. Eight new cities and towns have been added to a government list of urban areas vulnerable to earthquakes of “very severe intensityâ€, even as tremblor ripped through India’s northeast and the north this week.In all, 81 new towns and cities were added to a list of areas prone to earthquakes, bringing the total to 107, according to government data released on March 16, 2016.The entire north-east region including Agartala lies in seismic zone V.The panic spread by this week’s earthquakes is a continuing warning that India has vast areas of vulnerability. | 16-Apr-2016 |
