AGARTALA, April 6 (TIWN): Minister of State, Human Resource Development (Higher Education) – Dr. Ram Shankar Katheria in a one day visit to the state on Wednesday said that Tripura needs to buck up in the race of the modern Technology. In his one-day visit, he visited the National Institute of Technology (NIT) and inaugurated the newly-constructed Golden Jubilee Knowledge Centre. He also inaugurated the SC and ST Cell of the institute following a meeting at Visvesvaraya Auditorium. Being the 3rd Internet gateway, Tripura failed to satisfy the Union Minister for Human resource Development (Higher Education) – Professor Ram Shankar Katheria with the internet facility.Inaugurating the newly-constructed Golden Jubilee Knowledge Centre Union Minister Katharia said that such a big institute like NIT in Tripura would not suffer from poor internet facility. The campus needs to be technologically updated to provide education in a faster way as Internet is the medium of success for today’s generation. However, he later urged to be technologically updated for qualitative and advanced education.
It is to be mentioned here that although BSNL high official claims that Internet Bandwidth is providing service in full swing without any hurdles but the ground reality is that there is no difference in the telecommunication or the internet service in the state.
The much hyped internet bandwidth service which was inaugurated with much enthusiasm on March 23 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladeshi Premier Sheikh Hasina through Video conferencing is although now providing service from Bangladesh without any hurdles but so far there is no visible development in the service.
According to BSNL high official there is no problem in getting service. Now question arises if there is no problem in getting service then why there is no development in the service.
State is now getting superfast internet service which is provided through the unspent bandwidth in the neighbouring country’s Cox Bazar from March 23 but Tripura continue to suffer under poor infrastructural set up for making the best utilisation of the service.
However, Minister of State, Human resource Development (Higher Education) – professor Ram Shankar Katheria would move to Tripura Central University to inaugurate the academic building – XI. He would be felicitated at the Maharaja Bir Bikram Shatabarshiki Bhawan (university auditorium) soon after completion of the inauguration. He would also scheduled to hold party-level meeting with the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders at the party headquarter prior leaving the state.
