AGARTALA, April 8 (TIWN): The sudden resignation of Sudip Roy Barman as Congress Legislative Party (CLP) Leader has once again raised the question whether its an old game being played by Chief Minister Manik Sarkar in order to ensure that his tenure as Tripura CM lasts for a longer term beyond 2018 Assembly elections? As all credit goes to Manik’s 'closed door deal ' with opposition party leaders. Since the beginning of West Bengal poll a group of Congress leadership led by Sudip Roy Barman has been active in the state campaigning that the so called CPI-M- Congress alliance in West Bengal is against the interests of the thousands of Congress workers in Tripura. And accordingly, CPI-M party strategically remained busy to ensure that the main opposition in the State remains in the hands of Sudip Roy Barman & Co like the once popular group of Barman Senior and Co.According to political analysts, over two decades long regime of Manik Sarkar at the helm of Tripura CM has been possible due to the CPI-M party's secret understanding with the Congress. Manik Sarkar gauged the fact that Mamata's TMC is real enemy in Tripura after seven Congress MLAs, majority of Congress join Trinamul, so wily Manik making sure TMC's Tripura heads can be remote controlled to benefit CPI-M.

Whenever, anyone raised voice strongly against the ruling CPI-M in the state, Sudip Roy Barman ( earlier his father Samir Ranjan Barman ) comes to the aid of the ruling party especially for Manik Sarkar creating a chaotic situation within the party.

Even in the year 1988, when late Sudhir Ranjan Barman assumed the chair of Chief Minister of Congress-TUJS Govt after a period of 10 years of CPI-M rule, Samir Ranjan Barman & Co was always very active to create a split within the leadership of Tripura Pradesh Congress( TPCC). And ultimately the blue print produced by Samir Ranjan Barman showed its dividend when Samir indeed split the Congress and himself became the Chief Minister.

However, soon after assuming the Chief Ministership, Samir Ranjan Barman failed to cope with unabated terrorisation created by the criminals ; obviously backed by factions of Congress-TUJS leadership. Many still blame that Samir Ranjan Barman simply blackmailed the AICC when he produced the conspiracy against late CM Sudhir Ranjan Majumder.

Many years after that on 7th April 2016, TPCC witnessed another split simply because of the resignation of Sudip Roy Barman as Leader of Opposition.

Even within the Congress the rumours have been spread that Sudip & Co realized much earlier the AICC will give green signal to Congres -CPI-M alliance in West Bengal.

And for them it was not surprising to understand that after the assembly poll Mamata Banerjee will try to give a shock treatment to the Congress by creating a split within Congress in Tripura.

All on a sudden CPI-M Melarmath lobby too was trying to make it clear that even after a major split , the core leadership of Trinamool Congress remains in the hands of Barman & Co ( CPI-M most loyal enemy in Tripura).

As part of this game plan , as expressed by a group of TPCC leaders Sudip Roy Barman resigned as Leader of Opposition and accordingly this resignation letter has been sent to AICC President Mrs Sonia Gandhi.

Though Barman cited the reasons of CPI-M Congress alliance in Bengal as the Mai reason for his resignation , many political analysts believe that its a shrewd game of Manik Sarkar and Sudip Barman.

Now its almost clear to all the state BJP won't accept the rebel group of TPCC leaders (7 MLA's) with any kind of pre-conditions.

Many a times this rebel group tried to merge with BJP but the BJP high command is learnt to have made it clear that state BJP President will be a man from hardcore RSS background. Accordingly Biplab Deb has been appointed as state BJP Chief.

Now only one option is left with Sudip & Co and that is to tie up with TMC. Manik Sarkar & Co too at once got their so called working relationship very active and convinced the rebel TPCC leaders to join TMC.

Now there will a radical split in TPCC and this simply means that the opposition in Tripura will again become crippled whic will benefit CPI-M.

So Sudip's resignation and much expected merger of Sudip & Co with TMC will be a blessing for CPI-M in disguise . Manik Sarkar too will leave no stone unturned to make this happen as it will only increase his tenure as the CM.
