AGARTALA, April 6 (TIWN): Keeping aside the reality of state, MLA Biswa Bandhu Sen on Wednesday in the Tripura Assembly budget session raised an issue and stated Tripura can be now launched as the medical tourism hub. Placing the proposal he said that with developed geographical set up of Tripura with the other states and improved transportation in Tripura the state can be now lunched as the spot for medical tourism. Claiming the construction of super speciality block at GB hospital, MLA expressed that the block will be providing advanced treatment to the patients. He also said that other than GB and IGM hospital, the state government has also identified ILS hospital as the referral hospital which provides the advanced medical treatment in the state. The hospital has 120 bed, 47 critical care bed, 8 operation theatres, 2 specialised OT’s. Apart the hospital also has clinical cardiology, interventional cardiology, cardio vascular surgeries, neurology, neuro surgery, cardio surgery, and 47 intensive care unit.

It is to be mentioned here that the irony is that despite of having so many tourist spots in Tripura the state government is not concerned and interested in developing its tourism industry. There is no proper tourism information centre in the state to provide information to the tourists who are coming to visit the state or want to visit the state.

There are many other tourist spots in the interior of the state that are yet not accessible and no steps are taken to improve the communication to these places.

Proper information centre with all detailed information about the different tourist spots of Tripura should be established within the state and other parts of the country; so that tourists can know about our state and different tourist spots of the state.

Despite of improving the already existing beauty of the tourist spot of the state, the MLA has raised the issue of declaring Tripura as the medical tourist hub.

According to MLA, Government support and accreditation of hospitals and alternative medical practices could make the state the most sought-after destination for health tourism, “There is no uniform policy for health tourism across medical institutions. If medical tourists have less stringent visa norms from Bangladesh, it will be a boost to the sector.

Tripura State assembly on Wednesday hoisted the 4th day of the budget session with more updates on the status of Tripura budget.
