Tripura Assembly budget session ends after 5 days of ruckus on Thursday

AGARTALA, April 7 (TIWN): The five-day budget session of Tripura Assembly came to an abrupt end on Thursday as the House witnessed “acrimonious” scenes prompting speaker of the assembly to even suspend the Assembly session during these 5 days.

The five day winter session of Tripura assembly have witnessed a ruckus with opposition and the ruling getting engaged into a scuffle, followed by the suspension of assembly, including protesting in the well, raising allegation against the speakers, accusing CM Manik Sarkar’s involvement in the murder of former health minister Bimal Sinha

The five days’ assembly session concluded with appropriation of bills and resolutions.

It may be noted here that Finance Minister Bhanu Lal Saha is ailing and is now in Delhi for medical tests before undergoing surgery at the AIIMS and Minister Tapan Chakraborty with the portfolio of finance department has placed the budget.

The Tripura government tabled a Budget of Rs 15,246.52 crore in the state Assembly for the 2016-17 fiscal at Tripura Assembly.

Total receipt of debt is stated to be Rs 1570 crores and the deficit amount was stated to be at Rs188.54 crores.

Finance Minister Tapan Chakraborty said that the debt of Rs. 1570 crore would be reportedly covered by reducing non-development expenditures, stepping up resource mobilization to increase the state’s own revenue beside more efficient tax enforcement and effective austerity measures.

The budget has also revealed that the Budget for the Fiscal year 2016-16 is hiked by 17.34 percent compare to the previous year.

After a total of 18 years of duration, the Tripura Law minister Tapan Chakraborty placed the much controversial Yusuf commission report on the 3rd day of Tripura budget session at the civil secretariat.

During this budget session the opposition has alleged the involvement of CM manic Sarkar in the murder of former health minister Bimal sinha.

Opposition congress also staged walked from assembly after CM Manik Sarkar was seen attending party program keeping aside the crucial hours of assembly session.

However, opposition congress staged walk out from the assembly.  The opposition congress stated that CM Manik Sarkar is least bothered about the assembly session and is busy in party work.

They further criticised that CM Manik Sarkar for his alleged negligence attitude towards the assembly session and has given much importance to the party program.

However, after series of drama, hue and cry the budget session of Tripura assembly ended after five days.
