AGARTALA, April 7 (TIWN) : It’s since 5 days that vehicles on NH-44 at Assam-Tripura road are brawling to pass the way but the road has become so deadly there that trucks & other vehicles are just stranding on the muddy soil. The NH-44 has gone in its worst shape after the unseasonal rain since last few days. Although rain stopped since 2 days, but the condition has not yet developed. As a result the Assam-Agartala road is presently over-loaded with more than 500 vehicles, as the vehicles over there are unable to move. The food crisis has already begun at there as there are atleast 1000 of people who are pinned with the pathetic situation of NH-44. Moreover, drinking water crisis has hit the drivers and the prices of drinking water has gone high. The water bottles buying from the nearby shops are reportedly available with atleast Rs. 80/- per litre. As shops are very less on those areas, the situation has become like this. The drivers and those who are coming with the vehicles are suffering hugely from food crisis on that NH-44.

But surprisingly, the Govt. here has no sympathy for them, nor they have any urgency to control the situation.

Reportedly, the Assam-Agartala road which suffers from lack of maintenance has made the journey risky in these 5 days’ rain. As a result, the vehicles which were bringing vegetables or fruits, including fishes are rotting inside the trucks.

Resentment has been brewed among the vehicle drivers. The scenario of NH-44 says that no filling work has been done on that part and the Lowairpoa area is the most affected area due to the poor maintenance held by Assam Govt.

It’s to be mentioned here under the PWD Dept. Tripura’s NH-44 and other roads have become the worse-ever road way in Tripura’s history. Not only here, but observing the condition of NH-44 in Tripura, experts have always said that this is the most pathetic condition of Highway in the whole country.
