Chambal fertilizer plant would be delaye | AGARTALA / KAILASHAHAR, May 11 (TIWN): With 800 acres of land allotted to set up a Rs. 5000-crore Urea fertiliser plant at Khobal in Unakoti district of Tripura, the plant would be delayed for another one year from now as ONGC would have to assure the supply of gas only after getting sufficient amount of gas at least for 20 years, said ONGC official to TIWN over phone on Sunday."The project is in the initial stage. we have also to establish that the required amount of gas would be made available by us because the project is gas based. So, I think it would take about another year to be operational," official said.He also said that ONGC had expedited its exploration drive to gather more gas for supply to different projects. State-owned ONGC has signed MoU with a Rajasthan-based private company to set up a gas-based fertilizer plant in Tripura to meet the growing shortage of urea in the eastern and north-eastern states and adjoining Bangladesh. The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), in association with Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited (CFCL) and the Tripura government, will set up the Rs.5,000 crore plant in northern Tripura. | 10-May-2015 |

BJP state unit to be revamped; Party eye | AGARTALA, May 10 (TIWN): The recent developments in the state’s political scenario has widened up the options of various political parties in the state. The most significant of all is the rise in popularity of the rightist party BJP in the tribal belt of the state where the party became the first choice of nearly eight percentage of the voters in the recently concluded TTAADC election. The vote share in comparison to the other political parties may not be that significant but the surcharge in the vote percentage compared to it’s previous performance is giving boost to the party think tanks here. With the party icon Narendra Modi at the helm of power in New Delhi and the decline in popularity of the arch rival Congress and ideologically opponent CPI(M) in the recently held TTAADC election in the state, the state BJP unit can very righteously put all its effort in order to dethrone the left party from power in 2018 election. | 10-May-2015 |
