CM launches Agartala North zone water t | AGARTALA, May 21 (TIWN): Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Wednesday launched Agartala North zone water treatment plant installed near Raj Bhawan. The plant was set up with an aim to connect total 13000 houses with purified filtered water. Amongst the two proposed water treatment plant at Agartala and Barjala, CM on Wednesday inaugurated the plant at Agartala set up to cover the entire Northern zone of the capital city Agartala. “With an aim to reduce water scarcity across the city the Left front govt. of the state has been eyeing forward to bring as much as houses under the coverage of water treatment plant,†Sarkar said launching the water treatment plant on Wednesday. Sarkar said, “As there is no alternative to water the state govt. has putting much important on it looks forward to ensure better supply of water to the people.†“As of now it has been analysed that unlike previous days there is no major scarcity of water in the state, but the state govt. here has been looking forward to ensure scarcity free water supply across the state,†Sarkar said. Detailing about the so called ‘ambitious’ project launched on Wednesday Sarkar said that the plant has been installed with an aim to contain and remove potential disease-causing contaminants through a filtering system that blocks their path and further treatment that kills harmful organisms. | 20-May-2015 |
Union Textile Ministry proposed to fund | AGARTALA, May 21 (TIWN): Union Textile Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Wednesday pushed to adopt Govt. of India prompting Geotechnical textile for construction of vulnerable roads in the North eastern region to ensure better durability at an affordable cost in North-eastern states. Minister also proposed to fund for the ambitious project sponsored by the Govt. of India. Laying foundation stone for apparel and garment manufacturing centre and silk printing units at Agartala, Minister Gangwar said Ministry of Textile has been promoting Geo-Textile for road building, hill slope protection and lining of water reservoirs for hill regions with an objective to restrict damage to life and property due to landslidesâ€.The technology is not new for the country but the new government at the centre has attempted to use it for development of road infrastructure in hilly states,†Gangwar said.He however, pointed out that the ministry of textile launched the ambitious project to promote usage of geo-textile technology in Imphal two months ago.The scheme has set the modalities to grant additional fund to be used for implementation of the technology in the normal road building works. Agartala-Kolkata direct bus service thro | AGARTALA, May 21 (TIWN): New meaning of friendship will soon be bonded between two neighbouring countries as dreams of the people of Tripura will now probably come to reality when Agartala- Kolkata direct bus service through Dhaka launched in the upcoming days. Transport Minister Manik Dey while assuring the news said that, recently Bangladesh had agreed to the proposal. If everything goes well according to the plan, bus service will likely to be launched during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bangladesh. The required time allotted for the journey is scheduled to be of 16hours by mainly 3 travel agencies namely Tripura Road Transport Corporation (TRTC), West Bengal State Transport Corporation (WBSTC) and Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC).In the meantime, delegate team of the Transport ministry of both the countries had discussed the matter among them. After that, the Ministerial level talk will be held within few days. It is to be mentioned that, the demand for Agartala-Kolkata bus service was pending long from Tripura . Bishalgarh RD Block multi-crore MGNREGA | AGARTALA, May 20 (TIWN): The next hearing of the MGNREGA multi-crore under Bishalgarh RD Block will be held on May 25. All the accused persons who are in Judicial Custody (JC) at present will be produced before the Additional District and Sessions Court, said police sources.The accused persons are Chayan Nandi (Technical Assistant), Kishore Banik (Technical Assistant), Nibash Pal (Jr. Mechanical Engineer), Partha Sarkar (Jr. Mechanical Engineer), Goutam Pal (Junior Technician), Shayamal Debbarma (GRS), Sarada Debbarma (GRS) and Subir Ukil (Work Assistant), and Gouranga Paul. On the other hand two accused persons Mita Malakar (Jr. Engineer) and Debprasad Nandi (Gram Rojgar Sevak) are still at large. According to police sources, Mita Malakar (Jr. Engineer) is staying some-where in Assam and Debprasad Nandi (Gram Rojgar Sevak) is staying in Bangladesh. Foundation stone for Apparel and Garmen | AGARTALA, May 20 (TIWN): Union Minister for Textiles Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Wednesday laid foundation for Apparel and Garment Unit and Silk Printing Unit, first of its kind to be set up in the Left ruled Tripura in presence of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar. Adopted by the central govt. for the North Eastern States the first ever Apparel and Garment Unit in Tripura would be set up at Budjongnagar industrial estate with a cost of Rs. 18.18 crore whereas on yet another first of its kind in Tripura the Printing unit would be set up at Agartala Indranagar ITI with a cost of Rs. 3.41 crore. Laying the foundation stone at Agartala Nazrul Kalakshetra Union Minister S K Gangwar pitched for the development of the North eastern region. Newly appointed Governor Tathagata Roy a | AGARTALA, May 19 (TIWN): Former President of BJP’s West Bengal Unit, Tathagata Roy appointed as the new Governor of Tripura inspected official guard of Honour on Tuesday at Agartala Raj Bhawan. Roy landed at Agartala airport at 2:55 PM. Governor Roy would take oath as the new Governor of Tripura at Raj Bhavan on tomorrow, May 20. State Chief Secretary Y P Singh along with other officials of the state administration and BJP leaders received Tathagata Roy at Agartala airport. Later a guard of honour was given to Roy at Raj Bhawan in presence of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and his Cabinet ministers. State Health Dept. express displeasure o | AGARTALA, May 19 (TIWN): State Health Department on Tuesday expressed displeasure over the negligent role of the police over the National Rural Health Misison (NRHM) at kailasahar, Unakoti District sought immediate arrest of the accused Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) against whom the department had lodged FIR revealing misappropriation of NHM funds to the tune of Rs 20 crore in the district over a period of seven years till 2013.Besides, several discussions had already been started in the department following the negligence role of the police. On being asked why the accused CMOs have not yet been arrested, State Health Minister Badal Chowdhury on Tuesday told the reporters at the civil secretariat, “Department from its part had already lodged the FIR with the police finding irregularities in the fund to the tune of Rs. 5 crore".“The entire case has already been handed over to the police, therefore it is the duty of the police now to deal with the case,†adding he said that the department is expecting further development in the case.However, the state health department finding police playing a negligence role over the case, sought immediate arrest of the accused CMOs. | 19-May-2015 |
Secretariat employees protest transfer; | AGARTALA, May 19 (TIWN): Secretariat employees of Tripura State Secretariat here are fuming at the recent transfer order of two of its colleagues to the office of Chief Information officer recently. Two secretariat staffs namely Abijit Das and Partha Debnath has been transferred to the Office of the Chief Information Officer from the Secretariat. It may be mentioned here that Abhijit Das, a former member of the Left wing of the local committee of the Employees union had shifted his support to the Right wing of the union angering the top bosses of the left wing of the union. Japanese encephalitis program to be laun | AGARTALA, May 19 (TIWN): With an aim to protect children from Japanese encephalitis, Tripura is all set to launch the first ever Japanese encephalitis vaccine program from May 23, said Minister for Health & Family Welfare Badal Chowdhury on Tuesday here at the civil secretariat. As per schedule, altogether three districts will be covered under this program which includes West District, Shipahijala District and Khowai District, said Choudhury in a press conference held at the Agartala Secretariat building on Tuesday. Detailing the programme he said that children between 1 - 15 years of age will be vaccinated in the first phase. Further, as a part of the regular programme children between 9-12 months will be vaccinated along with the smallpox vaccine and the second dose will be provided at the age between 16 – 24 years along with D. P. T and Polio booster dose. As a part of the programme, medical officers along with others, Asha and Anganwadi workers are being trained to assist the people of the chosen areas, said Choudhury. The vaccination will be provided at the schools and primary health centre’s of the district, added. Sabroom SDJM expelled from service on ch | AGARTALA, May 19 (TIWN): A fresh embarrassment for the ruling Left front govt. of Tripura. The Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) of Sabroom Jhantu Bikash Das on Monday was expelled from his service permanently on charge of misbehaving with lawyers and for his low quality work. SDJM Jhantu Bikash Das was expelled from his service on Monday by the State Govt. following the direction of the High Court. He was expelled after his one and half year tenure of his service as a Judicial Magistrate of Sabroom Sub-Division. It was alleged that SDJM Jhantu Bikash Das often used to misbehave with the concerned lawyers of Sabroom Civil Court. Following which the lawyers has staged a seize-work protesting his unacceptable deeds inside the court premises. It has been learnt that failing to tolerate the behaviour of SDJM Jhantu Bikash Das the lawyers had knocked the door of Tripura High Court and earlier acting on it HC Justice S C Das mutualised the issue.High Court later conducting an enquiry to the case and finding Jhantu guilty finally asked the State govt. to take legal action against SDJM (Sabroom) Jhantu Bikash Das on May 8, 2015.However, the state govt. following this on May 16 issued a notice to Jhantu. Tripura to get first ever Textile Park, | AGARTALA, May 19 (TIWN): Along with other North Eastern states of India, Tripura is all set to have its own Textile Park at Budjongnagar industry estate alongwith another proposed printing unit at Indranagar ITI. However, Union Textile Minister Santosh Gangwar is scheduled to arrive here at the state on May 19 evening and would lay the foundation stone of the Textile park. The main programme would be held at Agartala Nazrul Kalakshetra. Entirely funded by the Government of India the construction work of the proposed Textile Park and another Priniting unit would be completed by six months from now, said Nagaraju Maddirala, Secretary to state Industry and Commerce on Monday. Talking to the reporters here at the civil secretariat Nagaraju said that Govt. of India has funded Rs. 18.18 crore for setting up the textile park whereas for the printing unit it sanctioned Rs. 3. 41crore. Adding to that he said that a total of three entrepreneurs would be brought here at the textile park at Budjingnagar industry estate and each would be provided with 100 stitching machines. A total of 300 stitching machines would be provided.
