AGARTALA, May 8 (TIWN): Tripura has got “Panchayat Shashaktikaran Puraskar†award for its best Panchayati Raj system at its rural areas. The award has been received on April 24, 2015 on a function at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on the eve of National Panchayati Raj Day. However the the state has got the award for the financial year 2014-15, said Minister Manik Dey.
Tripura Panchayat Minister on Friday interacting with the reporters here at the civil secretariat said that Rs. 30 lakhs has been awarded to Pashchim Tripura Zilla Parishad for being adjudged as one of the best for the year 2014-15 FY.
Besides, the centre has awarded Kaiyachanbari Village Committee, Block Jirania RD (West Tripura District) with Rs. 8 lakhs for the same. Kathaliya Block Panchayat Samiti (Sepahijala District) awarded with Rs. 20 lakhs, Hawaibari Gram Panchayat (Khowai District) awarded with Rs. 8 lakhs.
However a total of Rs. 66 lakhs has been awarded to all the concerned members of the Blocks and Panchayats.
Minister Manik Dey also said that another new award “Rashtriya Gaurav Gram Sabha Puraskar” has been given to Chalita Bankul Village Committee (Rupaichari Block, South Tripura) recognizing its outstanding efforts for an effective Gram Sabha.
Adding to that Dey said, “Tripura has been receiving such award since 2010-11 Financial Year.” He said, “The state govt. had introduced panchayati raj system to erase poverty form the state and to ensure empowerment for women.”
Besides, Dey said that with its newly owned strategy the central govt. has awarded the state for its best panchayti raj system ranking it as a state wise. The award is being given to the state based on the process of Panchayti Raj, reservation for women, regular panchayat level meeting, decision taking and others.
The central team has visited the state and inspected every blocks and panchayats to ensure award for the selected Panchayats, Dey said.
