AGARTALA / KAMALPUR, May 10 (TIWN): With the Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) debacle has rocked the state and its customers here, the Post Office in Kamalpur under North District has now came under the limelight with the authorities failed to provide pass books to its customers on time.

Sources said that the angry customers were denied of their passbooks even after their deposited money was matured. The customers sought administrative action to get their passbooks back. Reportedly the PO authorities failed to provide a total of 88 passbooks to the customers inspite their deposited money was matured.

However, talking to TIWN on Sunday in this regard Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kamalpur Rawel Hemendra Kumar said, “We have received the entire information in this regard and asked the department to conduct an enquiry to the case soon.”

Adding to that SDM also said, “FIR has been lodged against the Post Master for failing to provide the passbooks to the customers due to unspecific reason.”

He also said that after the enquiry the department would take disciplinary against the accused and others involved to the case.

Seeing little or no help, the frustrated customers locked the post-office with its employees inside for at least two hours. They were, however, released due to the intervention of the SDM, Kamalpur Sub Divisional Police Officer, and Officer –in-charge of Kamalpur Police Station.
