AGARTALA, May 8 (TIWN): Stained with corruption tag, Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) Prabir Bhattacharjee continues to live his luxury life in his multi-storied building on the land muted in the name of Department of Telecom, putting the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) authority under pressure now, said a highly placed source of the state administration. The source said, “Despite directions and advice from the District administration and Collector, BSNL did not take any action to vacate the land illegally occupied by Bhattacharjee. However, the BSNL authority is under pressure now.” Adding to that the source of the state administration said, “After the BSNL authority takes necessary step against it, the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) would take the next course of action.” After exposure of serious corruption charges and misuse of official power to get rid of punishment, Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) in Tripura Prabir Bhattacharjee in connivance with a top official of BSNL Tripura SSA and Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has now attempted to manipulate the entire land record where he built a double storied house on the land muted in the name of Department of Telecom.

However, according to the sources, the BSNL authority has recently attempted to ploy in order to rescue their friend Prabir Bhattacharjee. To save from departmental prosecution, Bhattacharjee through a leader of CPI-M party paid money to a official of AMC to manipulate the documents of his illegal building constructed within 200 yards of Mayor’s office on BSNL land without any approved plan. Interestingly, the money speaks strongly for Bhattacharjee, as neither BSNL nor AMC  took any action yet against him. 

However, the sources confirmed that CM has directed the authority to take immediate action against them based on the vigilance findings and wrote to DoPT for suspending them from the service for corruption.

After TIWN news published some couple of days back in this month, it is learnt from sources that Chief Secretary took note of it and Govt higher ups planning to initiate strong action against CCF Prabir Bhattacharjee.

Several allegations have been raised against the corrupt official Prabir Bhattacharjee. The allegation includes illegal building of house on BSNL land in Agartala, disproportionate asset from known sources of income, appointing forest guards in exchange of money by manipulating the process, taking money from field level officers allocated for raising of forest, misappropriation of public fund, illegal logging permit and womanizing activities openly in the office chamber.

Bhattacharjee is known most canning among all other accused and also is the backbone of all nefarious activities in the department. Allegedly, he has tried at several times to prevent the vigilance enquiry instituted against them about six months ago.

However, but leaving no stone unturned anywhere here corruption, scams, misappropriation of public money, taking bribe, illegally acquiring land and other illegal activities by a section of corrupt officers of the state under the regime of ‘clean' administration.
