NLFT commander Athurbabu Halam, other Militants surrender

Agartala, May 10 (TIWN): The following Self styled Dy Chief of Army Staff NLFT and two other NLFT extremists have surrendered on Saturday afternoon before DGP, Tripura in accordance with the surrender cum Rehabilitation package of Government of India and being implemented by Government of Tripura.As per Tripura Police Press release, the following militants surrendered.

 

Ø      SS-Deputy Chief of the Army Staff of NLFT Atharababu Halam @ Semifa @ Babu, S/O- Lt. Paila Halam of Jamthum Bong Colony, PS- Kachucherra.

 

Ø      SS Sergeant Major of NLFT Uttam Kumar Jamatia, @ Wathui, S/O- Sri Karma Kr. Jamatia of Jolema, PS- Killa.

 

Ø      SS Corporal of NLFT Krishna Mohan Debbarma @ Kiting, S/O- Lt. Somai Chandra Debbarma of Vill – Raghunathdepha, PO – Samukcherra, PS- Jatrapur, Dist – Sepahijala Tripura.

 

Atharababu Halam has also brought his following family members:

Ø      Rengchonkip Halam @ Banglati (42)- Wife

Ø      Simkim Halam (22) – Daughter.

Ø      Twisa Halam (18) – Daughter.

Ø      Marry Halam(14) – Daughter.

Ø      Hena Halam (12) – Daughter .

 

The following weapons, ammunitions and incriminating articles were submitted by the above surrenderees :

                            

ü      M-20 Pistol – 2 Nos.

ü      Pistol Rounds – 11 Nos.

ü      Pistol Magazine – 2 Nos.

ü      Chinese Grenade – 1 No.

ü      Walkie talkie hand set- 1 No.

ü      Pocket Diary – 1 No.

ü      SBBL Gun – 3 Nos.

ü      SBBL Rounds – 45 Nos.

ü      Knife – 02 Nos.

ü      BD Taka – 7156 Taka.

The above persons were intending to surrender to the Government of Tripura over a long period of time and to join the main stream of life. Finally, they approached Shri Arindam Nath, IPS, SP(SB) and Shri Manik Dutta, SI(SB) who had facilitated their surrender. They have been into Tripura with the help of the IGP BSF, Shri B.N. Sharma with due co-ordination of local police and TSR facilitating their formal surrender before DGP, Tripura on 9th May, Friday..
