Subject : Your Letter regarding May 7 News “CBI charge-sheeted Tripura’s DGP K. Nagraj in 2007….”
Dear Mr. Bhaumik,
In response to your letter regarding the news item on Mr. K Nagraj, with all due respect, we would like ask you that, in what capacity you are authorized to represent Mr K. Nagraj ? In official capacity or at personal capacity as we donot see the relation of you or Tripura Police or Govt of Tripura a party representing Mr. Nagraj in a case between him and CBI, and related News Items in media.
Legally and technically, you cannot represent an accused individual official, charge-sheeted by CBI just because officially you work under him. If accused K. Nagraj has any problems with our news, he needs to contact us directly in individual capacity. CBI has chargesheeted K.Nagraj only; not Tripura Police Dept or you – neither our news mentioned anyones name in Police other than accused, so please refrain from branding a personal corruption case of an IPS official into an official battle between Police and Media.
CBI Filed chargesheet against an individual police officer named Mr.Nagraj Kasinadhuni IPS on March 29, 2007 for amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. Prior to that CBI had registered the disproportionate assets case against him in 2005, filed FIR. CBI on March 29,2007 charge-sheeted Mr. K. Nagraj for possessing assets 500 times more than his known source of income.
Nagraj, an IPS officer of the 1983 batch of the Manipur-Tripura cadre, was charge-sheeted along with his father and brother in the court of the Special Judge, Hyderabad, for possessing assets in his own name as well as in the names of his family members. Investigations by CBI revealed that during 1978 to 1997, the officer had acquired assets and incurred expenditure to the tune of Rs 83.42 lakh against an income of Rs 13.24 lakh from all his known sources of income.
“The officer was found to have possessed disproportionate assets to the tune of over Rs 70 lakh during the period that is to the tune of more than 500 per cent compared to the known sources of income,” said G Mohanty, spokesperson of CBI in 2007.
The above information are from CBI Chargesheets, Press releases and these news were published all National News Media from 2005 to 2015 as sensational corruption news. Same information is available with CIC Central Information Commission, New Delhi and CBI press releases. For your information, few links of national media, RTI,CIC here.

So, after all these information and evidences that Mr K. Nagraj has been chargesheeted by CBI on March 29, 2007 for possessing assets 500 times more than his known source of income.
Now how you will explain your own letter where you mentioned our news is “distorted, defamatory, scurrilous, misleading and incorrect “ ? Every word of our news was written based on CBI chargesheet, available CBI press releases, and statements of CBI Official G Mohanty, spokesperson of CBI in 2007. Apart from that we spoke with CBI officials.
Because the matter is sub-judice so we did not brand Mr K.Nagraj as a convict or thief but we addressed him respectfully as DGP Nagraj, accused, chargesheeted by CBI and presented the facts before public which is already available in public domain, internet since 2005.
Again every word of news item is sourced from CBI Chargesheet and CBI press releases, CIC.
Finally, we challenge Mr K.Nagraj to come out in open and declare which word published in news was wrong or not mentioned in CBI chargesheet ?
If Mr. K.Nagraj can prove us wrong, we will tender apology or within 15 days, you and Mr. K.Nagraj need to tender unconditional apology for sending a letter with misleading, wrong information with the sole intention to cover-up a high level corruption.
We would suggest you to ask a simple question among yourselves that, why out of hundreds of past and present IPS officers worked in Tripura, why CBI choose to file chargesheet against a single IPS official K. Nagraj ?
If you would like to know more about this case or confirm our news, please call CBI Delhi office, DIG Aswini Chand's office at 011-24362736 or 011-24360361. CBI may share with you exactly the same information which they already did via press releases, also press conferences by their spokesman G.Mohanty in 2007. DIG Aswini Chand is the key CBI Official leading the prosecution alongwith SP Vijay Bahadur.
