On Sunday evening, a fake candidate was nabbed by the police personnel of East police station during 1st year Medical entrance examination held at MBB College organized by Tripura Medical College & Dr. B.R. CPI-M blames Modi Govt. for delay in MGN | AGARTALA, May 25 (TIWN): With the delay in REGA payment rocked the entire state on the month of April, the ruling CPI-M recently on its press communiqué of 2 days state committee meeting has blamed the Narendra Modi led govt. at the centre saying that the sudden change in the REGA payment procedure by the centre has deprived the workers here in Tripura. 26 years old Bangladeshi detained in Bel | BELONIA, May 25 (TIWN): Border Security Force (BSF) on Sunday mid-night detained one 26 years old Bangladeshi youth while he was trying to cross the Indian border at Belonia Hrishyamukh Indo-Bangla border without valid documents and passport. However the detained was suspected to be engaged to smuggling business through the bordering areas of the state. The Bangladeshi youth was identified as Mohammad Allmamun, resident of Bangladesh Hrishyamukh. On Sunday midnight acting on a tip off concerned 168 battelion of BSF Commandant detained the Bangladeshi while he was trying to cross the Indian border to enter Bangladesh. He was found having no valid documents and passport. Reportedly the Bangladeshi Mohammad Allmamun, resident of Bangladesh Hrishyamukh entered India through the unfenced bordering area. The agreement is likely to be signed during PM Narendra Modi's Dhaka visit in June, an Indian diplomat told TIWN.Bangladesh has agreed to sell off its unused submarine Internet bandwidth to India's state owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) for $ 1.2 million ( Rs 7.7 crores) a year. Preface work for first ever flyover in T | AGARTALA, May 24 (TIWN): The preliminary work for the construction of the first ever flyover road in Left ruled state Tripura has begun. Chief Minister Manik Sarkar is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of the proposed fly over on May 27 at Police Parade Ground at 4 pm at Bordowali. The work order has already been issued, said State PWD Engineer in Chief Sunil Bhowmik on Saturday.Bhowmik briefing the programme schedule said that PWD Minister Badal Chowdhury, Urban Development Minister Manik Dey along with other officials would remain present during the foundation stone laying in ceremony on May 27. Talking to TIWN Bhowmik said that the preface work has already begun after the work order was issued with the Nagarjuna Construction Company entrusted to take up the construction work. He said that the engineers started measuring the roads at the Battala area. Sample testing and machinery efficiency testing is going on.Besides, test piling will be conducted by making barricade at 4 to 5 meter areas in between the road.Asked about any land acquisition Bhowmik assured that no acquisition of land will be required right now. Ravi and Intelligence Bureau Director Dineshwar Sharma.The development of north eastern region (DoNER) minister said there was a need for modernisation of police as well as increase of police modernisation grant for northeastern states."Redeployment in the region of the existing forces like Assam Rifles and ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police) is also another topic that needs to be taken seriously," he said. A number of suggestions were also made from the point of view of identifying trade corridors intra-regionally among the northeastern states as well as with the countries across the eastern borders and a suggestion for "integrated" check posts was also put forward for consideration. Naga insurgents losing steam, says India | AGARTALA, May 23 (TIWN / IANS): The Indian Army is confident of handling any fresh violence unleashed by a Naga separatist faction operating from its bases in Myanmar, but will deal with the rebel challenge "very differently" this time, a top commander has said.Lieutenant General Bipin Rawat, commanding the Indian Army's Kohima-based 3 Corps that is responsible for counter-insurgency operations in Nagaland and other northeastern states, said that the faction headed by Myanmarese Naga rebel leader S.S. Khaplang can't do very much because it lacks popular support."In Nagaland, the people have got used to the peace dividend for the last 17 years. They don't like resumption of rebel violence because that will mean military operations again which affects their normal lives. So Khaplang stands isolated," Lt.
