NFR GM calls on CM Manik Sarkar | AGARTALA, Oct 4 (TIWN): BG conversion work to be completed within the given duration, said General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) RK Gupta in a meeting with Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Sunday at Secretariat.The team led by GM of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) RK Gupta also inspected road over bridge No: 33 on NH44 of Agartala-Udaipur section of Agartala-Sabroom new line project. The team also inspected the blanketing manufacturing plant and bridge no 112 on Gomoti River.In a three visit to the state, General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) RK Gupta on Friday accompanied by Chief Engineer Harpal Singh visited Nischintapur, an area where the Indo-Bangla track will pass through international border. At Nischintapur area, the GM had words with Chief Engineer Singh, Chief Executive Officer AS Garub on the proposed 15 km railway track.As per the plan, a portion of Indo-Bangla rail track would be elevated corridor to reduce land required for the project. The 15-km railway project is expected to be completed by 2017 but it was not known when the work will get underway. Although the project has been sanctioned, no fund has been released yet stumbling block to the land acquisition process.However, General Manager (Construction), Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) R.K.Gupta in his visit was accompanied by A.S.Garud Chief Administrative officer, Ajit Pandit NFR CAO Malingaon, Harpal Singh Chief Engineer, Rabindra Ram Chief Engineer and PB Sivaram Prasad CAO NFR. It is worthy to be mention that Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu would pay a one-day visit to Tripura in the second week of October to lay the foundation stone for conversion of railway tracks from meter gauge to broad gauge. State gets its first own Volvo bus, serv | AGARTALA, Oct 4 (TIWN): After waiting for several months, the state government has finally catered its own Volvo bus to the land locked Tripura to provide its own volvo bus service from Agartala to Kolkata via Dhaka.The state is all set to start its own first volvo bus service to Kolkata from Agartala via Dhaka expectedly from Oct 15 said Samarjit Bhowmik secretary, Transport department.With the aim to start the state own bus service to Kolkata from Agartala via Dhaka, a Volvo bus has arrived in the state on Saturday late night and is kept at TRTC garage area.Despite all odds and with an aim to meet the demand of the land-locked Tripura and to contain the rise in airfares the Tripura Left front government has at last bought luxury bus for the Agartala-Kolkata route via Bangladesh capital Dhaka. Tripura is all set to kick off the commercial service between Agartala and Kolkata, while the West Bengal Government has already started its commercial service successfully. It is to be mentioned here that Agartala-Karimganj railway is suspended for BG conversion work.Therefore it is expected that the crowd will be less compared to the other years during the Durga Puja celebration. Earlier people from Dharmanagar, Kailashahar, Kumarghat, Monu and various other places use to come to Agartala to enjoy Durga puja through rail. But the suspension of railway network to Agartala is expected to affect crowd.People who use to come to Agartala within no time, now they had to use the NH-44 which will take long time for them to reach here.Earlier, people from various parts used the rail route and use to reach Agartala within 3 to 4 hours at night. Fresh wave of extremism hits Korbuk : NL | AGARTALA, Oct 3 (TIWN): Around 10 to 12 armed militants from the banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) have allegedly entered korbuk Sub-division under Gomati district through the long unfenced border area ahead of Village committee polls to revive themselves and disrupt the elections procedure. According to sources, the extremists’ threat has started rising in the eastern sector with incidents of kidnapping of workers for subscription. The banned outfit of NLFT has intruded in the area to disrupt the smooth conduct of the village committee elections.A highly placed official source confirmed that Area commander of NLFT BM association Rathomoni Koloi with a team of 12 members have intruded to the land of the South district and has started disrupting the smooth living of the locals of the area. BSF and district police administration were asked to maintain strict vigil along the border so that militants could not enter into the Indian soil, the source added. Tripura also shares 856-km-long border with Bangladesh which constitutes 85 per cent of its total border and some parts of the border areas are still unfenced. Even though Minister Manik Dey prefers to blame the Power Plants for State’s power crisis, falsely blaming Plants insufficient power generation causing frequent load-sheddings in the state, but in reality TSECL (Tripura State Electricity Corporation) is yet to clear pending bills of at least Rs 100 crores to Power Plants of Tripura, amongst them pending bills to Palatana Power Plant(OTPC) is the highest. While talking to TSECL MD Shyamal Roy, TIWN unearthed these due amounts to power plants which stands over Rs.100 crores, these amounts supposed to be paid by TSECL long back. But strangely, although the Health Minister Badal Choudhury stayed numb for malaria-deaths since data of Malaria infection had been released in Sept 2015 after Congress held press meet and condemned the state govt.’s health dept. But suddenly on Sep 29 Choudhury held press conference and released data with a fresh data and said, “In total 22,562 people are attacked by the Malaria virus and a total of 16 people diedâ€. On the next day, i.e. on Sep 30 Badal again called another press conference with the issue of Muhuri Char. Choudhury passed hours to describe the issue of Indo-Bangla border and mentioned the history of 50 years old issue with Pakistan (presently Bangladesh). He also stretched the time of 1974, when Indira-Mujib had dealt to make the border of Indo-Bangla, which will be stretched in the middle of Muhuri river. BG Conversion: NFR team visit Nischintpu | AGARTALA, Oct 2 (TIWN): General Manager (Construction), Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) R.K.Gupta in a visit to the state on Friday inspected the work progress of BG conversion at Nishchintpur BOP Indo-Bangla border area. The NFR team arrived here in the state at 10.45 in the morning in flight AI 743. However, General Manager (Construction), Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) R.K.Gupta in his visit was accompanied by A.S.Garud Chief Administrative officer, Ajit Pandit NFR CAO Malingaon, Harpal Singh Chief Engineer, Rabindra Ram Chief Engineer and PB Sivaram Prasad CAO NFR. It is to be mentioned here that the NFR team in a visit to the Nishchintpur BOP Indo-Bangla border area inspected the area to see the progress in the proposed rail connectivity between Agartala and Gangasagar (Bangladesh). Rose Valley, Sarada Chit fund scam: CBI | AGARTALA / KOLKATA, Oct 2 (TIWN): The CBI on Thursday raided 19 places in Odisha and West Bengal in connection with its ongoing probe in the multi-crore-rupee chit fund scam, an official said.A total of 246 cases have been registered by the CBI against 128 companies, including Saradha Group, Rose Valley, Unipay 2 U, Jeevan Suraksha, Prayag, Abyss Assam Group Co, Basil International Limited and Daffodils Group of Companies.The two directors Ashok Kumar Saha, MD of Rose Valley based in Agartala and Shibamoy Dutta, Rose Valley Kolkata were involved cheating and misappropriation of funds and was in long association with the group with the group's Chief Managing director Gautam Kundu. The firm came into the limelight following the Saradha ponzi scam which broke in early 2013. Power Plants deplorable conditions causi | AGARTALA, Oct 2 (TIWN): With the 6 days shutdown of Tripura’s largest plant OTPC Palatana, once again State plunged into grave darkness affecting lakhs of households statewide. Talking to TIWN on Thrusday, Power Minister Manik Dey said that presently only 3 Plants are running at Tripura. These plants are Dumboor, Rokhia, Baramura Plants. However Tripura’s largest power plant OTPC is suffering from continuous shutdowns due to lack of ONGC gas and the other power plants are running half-dead since decades. Manik Dey told TIWN that plants in Tripura running in deplorable condition but with the OTPC’s shutdown from Sep 29, power generation has hit at extreme low. Minister also said, since many years of him handling Tripura’s Power Ministry so far, Govt has failed to convince Public Sector companies to control the situations, also Minister claimed that these public sector companies are responsible for frequent load-shedding and Govt has little control over the technical problems caused by ONGC, OTPC and NEEPCO. Speaking on Wednesday at the United Nations General Assembly, Hasina said the implementation of the boundary agreement "brought to a peaceful end the lingering humanitarian situation" of 50,000 stateless residents in 162 enclaves. "By doing so jointly with India, we have a unique precedent for the world," she said. PMO creates a list of 125 corrupt office | AGARTALA, Oct 1 (TIWN): Chief Minister Manik Sarkar should learn from Prime Minister Narendra Modi how to tackle corruption in the state. Prime Minister Office (PMO) has created a list of 125 officers who are corrupt. The list will be sent to DoPT who will further give a VRS to the officers. The initiative taken by PMO deserves appreciation, an example for other states and union territories. Sarkar government been criticised for failing to take action against senior officials implicated in corruption scandals. No high-ranking official or political appointee had served a prison sentence despite investigations into numerous corruption scandals. Reportedly corruption in the state as "severe, well-known" and something that "cuts across many sectors".CM Sarkar and his government have repeatedly promised to stamp out corruption, but major corruption scandals resurface in govt. departments. Major corruption scandals that have hit the state, in which government officials were accused, but none were prosecuted.Meanwhile, crores of rupees were diverted from MGNREGA, NHRM,RMSA, SSA etc.None of the high-ranking government officials who managed the implicated offices have faced criminal sanction.
