NH-44 does not comes under the administr | AGARTALA, Oct 10 (TIWN): Commenting on the question put up on dilapidated condition of the NH-44 over past few months, Union Development of the North eastern Region (DoNER) Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh on Friday in a press communiqué at Secretariat said that the development work of the NH44 does not come under the administration of the DoNER ministry rather it is administered by Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India (MoRTH), Nitin Gadkari and State Governments. Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India (MoRTH) is responsible for the progress of the development work of the NH44. Central Govt has sponsored enough funds and development work, said Dr.Singh. It is to be mentioned here that the condition of National Highway has worsened after it was handed over to the State PWD by NHAI, which raised hopes among the commuters that their transportation problems will come to an end. But their hopes evaporated as the condition of the NH-44 is getting worsened day by day. After taking over the charge of maintenance of NH-44, the PWD is not working up to the mark. After the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway (MORTH) handed over development and maintenance of 104 km of the Assam Agartala National Highway (NH-44) to the PWD from Border Roads Organization (BRO) in July 16th, 2013, the condition of the NH-44 is getting worse day-by-day due to negligence of State PWD,which is headed by Minister Badal Chowdhury. | 09-Oct-2015 |

Speaking to the media personnel’s, Union DoNER Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh urged to the officials that Tripura can become the "bamboo state" of India due to its high level of production of this giant woody grass which can be used for furniture as well as paper production. Stating that each of the eight north-eastern states can develop an identity of its own, Singh urged to the state that Tripura has a very bright opportunity to earn the distinction of becoming the "bamboo state" of India. He further said that the high level of production of bamboo in Tripura can make the state a major source of not only furniture but also paper for the rest of the country."This could not only help generate revenue for the state but also create job opportunities for youth outside the state," Singh said. Terminated teachers case: Next hearing o | AGARTALA, Oct 9 (TIWN): Uncertainty still looms large over the fate of the 10,323 teachers with the hearing date again postponed to January 7, 2016, as confirmed by Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty to TIWN correspondent on Friday.The next hearing for the case of termination of 10323 teachers’ has been re-scheduled for hearing to January 7, 2016, said Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty.He further informed that the case was produced for hearing on Friday before the apex court Registrar General's court, but on request from petitioner’s apex court the hearing date was postponed to January 7, 2016.A division bench of the Tripura High Court, comprising Chief Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice Swapan Chandra Das, in its judgment May 7, 2014 terminated the jobs of 10,323 government school teachers citing discrimination and irregularities.The high court also asked the state government to put in place a fresh recruitment process by December 2014 and frame a new employment policy within two months. Tripura's Left Front government recruited 1,100 post-graduate and 4,617 graduate teachers in 2010 and 4,606 under-graduate teachers in December 2013. Sudden ONGC gas cut shuts down 101MW Mon | AGARTALA, Oct 9 (TIWN): Powered by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), Tripura's 101 MW gas-based Monarchak power plant has undergone complete shutdown on Thursday morning due to the gas cut from ONGC, said official source.The ONGC has started supplying gas from October 5 to Monarchak power plant and Monarchak was able to produce a power of 37 Megawatt round the clock till Thursday morning but the sudden crisis of gas supply from ONGC has disrupted the power generation.However, the 101 MW gas-based Monarchak power plant in Sipahijala district at Sonamura sub-division has resume power production after ONGC managed to resume its gas supply to Monarchak power plant.According to the highly placed official source, currently the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) managed to resume its gas supply to Monarchak power plant after the Palatana power unit has undergone scheduled shutdown. Santa Saha murder case: CID claims it to | AGARTALA, Oct 8 (TIWN): With the aim to crack the mystery behind the sensational murder of 50 years old Santa Saha at Shyamali Bazar quarter complex, CID is continuously interrogating the four accused to find out whether any other culprit is involved in the murder case or not.After being taken to police remand the four accused are being interrogated at four different police station to find out the mystery behind the murder of the 50 years old Sanata Saha at her own residence.Talking to TIWN correspondent on Thursday, East police personnel said that CID team is continuously interrogating the four accused separately in the four different police station and will soon interrogate the four accused together to cross check the statement of all the accused related to the murder case. Rose Valley, Sarada Chit Fund scam:CBI n | KOLKATA / AGARTALA , Oct 8 (TIWN): The CBI on Wednesday arrested Manoranjana Sinh, estranged wife of former union minister and Congress leader Matang Sinh, and grilled cinestar-turned Trinamool Congress MP Tapas Paul in connection with the multi-crore-rupee Saradha and Rose Valley ponzi scams.Along with Manoranjana, CBI sleuths arrested Kolkata-based entrepreneur Santanu Ghosh in connection with the scam.Manoranjana and Ghosh were grilled by the CBI's Special Crime Branch in the satellite township of Salt Lake for hours before they were eventually arrested."Both the arrested people have been interrogated earlier but they not only failed to explain the facts but also allegedly concealed vital information and did not cooperate with the CBI," said a CBI officer."Their alleged involvement in criminal conspiracy with Saradha chief Sudipta Sen for personal gain of huge amounts running into crores of rupees by way of misappropriation of funds collected from innumerable poor investors and also cheating them have come during the ongoing investigation," the officer added.The CBI had arrested Assam's former Union Minister Matang Sinh in January for his alleged complicity in the scam. Earlier The High Court of Tripura instructed the Tripura State Government to form a full-fledged team to investigate all the matters related to Chit fund issues. Failing to comply order: High court iss | AGARTALA, Oct 7 (TIWN): By seeking unconditional apology in high court, the officer – in – charge of Birganj police station Sunil Kumar Das was exempted from service censor. On Tuesday, Chief Justice Deepak Gupta gave stern warning to the police officer in the court room and if repeated again than the court will be compeled to take action. Chief Justice Gutpa took a suo – motto case against the OC for not following court order.It is mentionable here that a property case was registered against Amar Das, local of Amarpur sub division. Arrest warrant was issued agaisnt him. To evade arrest , Amar Das filed anticipatory bail in the high court.On May 19, the court granted anticipatory bail, accordingly Amar Das was directed to submit a judgment order copy at Birganj police station. On way to police station he was brutally attacked by miscreants. He was critically injured. Later after getting information police took Amar Das to hospital, where he succumbed to injuries. Before breathing his last in a statement he gave the names of eleven miscreants to police. All are resident of Kamaria khola under Birganj police sation.Ashu Das, wife of the deceased registered an FIR against all eleven miscreants at Birganj police station.
