AGARTALA, Oct 2 (TIWN):The High Court of Tripura rejected the bail plea of three CPI(M) leaders for their alleged manhandling of SDJM court judge. On Thursday, Chief Justice Deepak Gupta rejected the bail plea of accused Tapas Datta, CPI(M) Belonia divisional secretary, Trilokesh Sinha and Babul Debnath both member of divisional committee.
The chief justice not only rejected the bail plea, he directed police to arrest the trio for custodial trial.After September 2 incident a suo motto case was registered by SDPO, chief justice expressed dismay failing to arrest the main accused. Even some are shielding the accused from getting arrested stated the chief justice.After the high court rejection CPI(M) party leaders started brain storming session for future course of action. Party sources said blame game started among the leaders.
They were allegedly accused of abusing District and Sessions Judge of Belonia Ruhidas Paul during the Left Front sponsored general strike on September 02 last. Paul made a detailed account of the happenings on the day and sought legal action against the picketers. The accused persons moved an anticipatory bail petition in the High Court to evade arrest. The High Court had asked for the case dairy. Besides Paul, the CPIM picketers attacked Sourabh Saha, SDJM of Sabroom and vandalized the court when he went to attend court proceedings. He entered the toilet to save himself from the rowdy picketers. Notably, the incident was brought to the notice of the Supreme Court.
