AGARTALA, Oct 3 (TIWN): Alleging discrepancy and embezzlement of central fund in the health sector, and slamming the Inept administrators and incompetent officials of the Health and Family Welfare department of Tripura as only responsible for the great debacle of Malaria outbreak in the state, the Youth congress on Saturday placed a deputation to Health and Family Welfare director at Gurkhabosti.Raising voice against the embezzlement of central money by the ruling party, the youth congress on Saturdayorganised a protest rally which moved across several part of the streets and placed a deputation to the Health and Family Welfare director at Gurkhabosti.Speaking to Media, Youth Congress president Sushanta Chowdhury said that every year central government sends a huge amount of money for prevention and treatment of different insect borne diseases like Malaria, Dengue, and Japanese Encephalitis but all the money goes to the pocket of the ruling party leaders and let the death toll from insect borne diseases rise high in the state. He further said that, the central government has so far sanctioned an amount of Rs 11 crore and 60 lakh in the financial year 2015-16 and an amount of only 1 crore 7 lakh is spent so far.

Demanding answer to the embezzlement of the central fund the youth congress of Saturday placed deputation to Health and Family welfare director. It is to be mentioned here that during 2014-15 financial year, Tripura have received an amount of 977.60 lakhs and adding to previously available opening balance of 667.45 lakhs, total available fund was 1645.05 lakhs.

Reportedly, this fund is meant for prevention and treatment of different insect borne diseases like Malaria, Dengue, and Japanese Encephalitis but so far no full-fledged utility of the fund is done for the prevention of the diseases in the particular areas and the state may soon experience the debacle of Japanese Encephalitis which is gripping the state gradually.

It seems that the state government have not learnt any lessons from the last year’s Malaria Outbreak debacles and did not bothered to spend the released amount of central fund to prepare in a better way for the next year.  All the North Eastern states usually receives huge amounts of central assistance for Health purposes but the inefficient and corrupt  local management under the state health department  leads to deplorable health status of the society.

However, the Chief Minister and Health Minister of the state should start to revamp the ailing Health Department of our state instead of making the tall claims in front of the public.
