100 MW power supply to Bangladesh likely | AGARTALA, March 24 (TIWN): "Tripura is ready to supply at least 100 MW of power to Bangladesh if the central government allows the state government to proceed with power supply" Power minister Manik Dey said to media persons. Tripura is keen to supply at least 100 MW of electricity to energy-starved Bangladesh as the northeast Indian state will be power surplus by December 2015, he mentioned. "Bangladesh badly needs electricity for domestic, industrial and irrigation purposes. We must cooperate with Bangladesh, because it is our best friendly neighbor," he further mentioned. Observation of 40 years of 1975 strike f | AGARTALA, March 24 (TIWN): Tripura Pradesh 2nd October Committee today criticized the Tripura Employees Co-ordination Committee’s call for observation of 40 years of 1975 strike. The congress committee claimed that the 1975 strike was called by the then Chief Minister of Tripura Sukhamoy Sen Gupta for 13 days to press for the central pay scale to the Tripura government employees, but the it the 1975 strike was later plotted to be of communist movement. Talking to TIWN today Sipahijala District Magistrate & Collector (DM) Prashant Kumar Goyal said that a meeting will be held with the Bangladesh Brahmanbaria District administration during the 1st week of April. Adding to that Goyal said, though the meeting was scheduled to be held recently but due to the political unrest in Bangladesh the meeting was deferred to the 1st week of April.DM Prashant Kumar Goyal informed that the second ‘border haat’ at Kamalasagar is readied for its inauguration. The border haat is like to be opened on the month of April. Goyal said, “A meeting will be held during the first week of April.†Adding to that he said that the meeting with Bangladesh Brahmanbaria administration was scheduled to be held recently but due to the political unrest in Bangladesh the meeting has been deferred on April.Asked about the issues to be taken up in the meeting, Goyal said that the progress work of the border haat Kamalasagar will be reviewed in the meeting. TSR Jawan’s family couldn’ | UDAIPUR / AMARPUR, Duluma, March 24 (TIWN): After passing of six months finally the Crime Investigation Department (CID) Tripura met the family members of late Kamal Chandra Debnath who was a TSR jawan of the 5th battalion, was brutally murdered at Manjoy Para TSR camp in Raiyashabari. TSR Jawan Kamal Chandra Debnath(32), S/O Sushil Debnath was killed brutally by a gun shot from close range on September 9, 2014 , 4pm who has been in service since 2002. His dead body was found on a tila (a small hill) not far away from Manjoy Para TSR camp’ where he was posted. But mysteriously no one from Kamal Chandra Debnath’s own camp showed interest either for his dead body or later for any kind of investigation. Family members of the victim went to the door of Chief Minister also, but they couldn’t get any justice. On 18th February,2015, Justice Subhashish Talapatra of High Court served a notice for ‘not doing’ enough investigations in this case, to Prabir Majumder(TSR Commandant), Satyajit Das(Asst. Sensational murder case of TSR jawan: Ac | AGARTALA, March 24 (TIWN): In the sensational murder case of TSR jawan Manik Roy in Atharabola, Udaipur on March 16 last, the Udaipur CJM Court Judge Mridul Chakraborty on Monday sent both the accused to another four days of police remand.Earlier, Police submitted the case diary to Udaipur CJM Court Judge on March 19th regarding the sensational murder case of TSR jawan. It is to be mentioned here that police detained Victim Manik Roy’s wife and one of his friend Rajib Roy on March 16 regarding the incident.Banani Sarkar (27) and Rajib Roy (30) was nabbed from Madhabpur and Golaghati respectively. Rajib is a TSR Jawan of 13th Battalion which is headquartered in Kanchanpur. TSR Jawan Manik Roy was killed in Atharobhola under Killa Police Station in Udaipur Sub Division. Manik Roy’s murder took place at around 1.15pm to 1.30pm on Thursday near Gungrai , around 12km outskirts of Udaipur . Poor people of the state deprived from f | AGARTALA, March 23 (TIWN): “During the last two consecutive years the Tripura High Court (HC) disposed major number of cases while the figure came down heavily this month,†said High Court Chief Justice Deepak Gupta today. Adding to that Hon.Chief Justice Deepak Gupta said that during this two year a total of 2, 565 cases were disposed in the High Court while this month alone 135 cases were disposed. 480 Rega workers locked the Co-operative | KHOWAI, March 23 (TIWN): 480 Rega workers of Sikaribari ADC Village at Tulasikhar Block of Khowai had locked the bank workers of Co-operative Bank in protest of their pending wage on Monday .However, the role of police in this regard seems to be suspicious in this regard.Sources informed that, the 480 Rega workers of Tulasikhar had complted their work for 51 dyas. But at the time of payment it is seen that they are not providing the due wage. After passing many days, today they went to the bank, and saw that only the wage of 10 -12 days work have been allotted to their account.Immidiately as a mark of protest, they had locked the bank employees inside for a duration of 3hrs between 11a.m to 2.00 p.m. After passing 3hrs, Champahawar Police under the leadership of sub-Inspector had gone to the spot and unlocked the bank employees. But the role of police in this regard seems to be suspicious as because the distance of the block with the police. Howver, the Rega workers told that if their payment is not finalized today, then they will again lock the bank. No slaughter house in the capital city: | AGARTALA, March 23 (TIWN): With the growing number of open slaughtering of animals across the road side here in the capital city Agartala, the Agartala Municipal Corporation has failed to provide a facility to the meat sellers bringing the open slaughtering under control. It revealed that all the open slaughtering houses across the road side posing both environment and health hazards due to discrete disposal of waste, highly polluted effluent discharge, cutting of animals. The results show that for the residents living in the immediate vicinity of the open slaughter houses at the capital city, both the environmental conditions and their health conditions were worst. Tripura High Court celebrates 2nd annive | AGARTALA, March 23 (TIWN): The Tripura High Court today celebrates its second anniversary. The long awaited separate High Court of Tripura was inaugurated on Mar 26, 2013 by Chief Justice of India Altamas Kabir, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Supreme Court Justice Aftab Alam and Chief Justice of Guwahati High Court Adarsh Kumar Goel. The High Court of Tripura was established in Mar 2013, after making suitable amendments in the Constitution of India and North ÂEastern Areas (ReÂorganization) Act, 1971. Earlier, a bench of the Guwahati High Court used to have jurisdiction over the state of Tripura. Justice Deepak Gupta, who hails from Himachal Pradesh was appointed as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Tripura, with effect from March 23, 2013 and by other notifications, the other Judges ÂJustice Utpalendu Bikash Saha, Swapan Chandra Das and Subhashish Talapatra as judges, who were formally the judges of the Guwahati High Court became the Judges of the High Court of Tripura from Mar 23, 2013 in their respective capacities.On Mar 23, 2013 the Chief Justice and other Judges of the High Court of Tripura have been administered the oath of the office by his Excellency, the then Governor of Tripura, Dr. D.Y. Patil at Durbar Hall of the Raj Bhawan in presence of the high dignitaries. Chief Justice Deepak Gupta later on administered the oath of office and secrecy to new governor Devanand Konwar. Gas to Monarchak Power plant cut: ONGC e | AGARTALA, March 22 (TIWN): The gas turbine of the power plant situated at Monarchak under Sonamura Sub Division facing cut off gas with the ONGC taken up an extension work of a portion of 150 meter inner pipeline. However with this the Monarchak gas based thermal power plant likely to start its test run by the end of March, said NEEPCO Project Head and General Manager S R Biswas today. Biswas earlier said that the gas transparency arrangement made by the ONGC to supply gas to the Monarchak, will not meet the gas turbine system at present.Talking to TIWN today Monarchak Project General Manager S R Biswas said that after the ONGC commission the control bulb on its gas pipeline the Monarchak gas based thermal power plant will start its test run with certain trial operation would also be carried. Biswas told to TIWN that at present the gas o the Monarchak plant is cut off as the ONGC has taken up the extension work of a portion of 150 meter inner pipeline. “The ONGC has said that it will take more 4 to 5 days to start supplying gas to the pipeline,†Biswas told. The extension work has begun since 3 days back. Legal wranglings over power, water disco | AGARTALA, March 22 (TIWN): With the Tripura High Court (HC) single bench on Saturday asking the Rose valley office to appeal in the division bench with the issue of power cut of the rose valley office building, the District Administration’s instruction to cut the power and water supply connection were questioned. Rose Valley demanded for the restoration of the power line in the office building, lodging a complaint with the HC on March 19. Bhowmik told to TIWN that after the state govt. has issued the occupancy certificate, the rose valley has also asked for power and water supply connection to the office, and accordingly that too were given by the AMC and the TSECL. “But what happened now with the state govt. that acting with its autocratic power recently the DM has instructed to cut the power line of the rose valley office building terming it as illegal?â€, asked Bhowmik.He said that earlier during the year 2012, the state govt. and its Urban Development Department were fined Rs. 10, 000 for not providing the occupancy certificate to the rose valley office building. Arms recovered ahead of TTAADC poll: On | AGARTALA, March 22 (TIWN): Just ahead of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election here in the state, in a joint operation conducted by Assam Rifles personnel and Mizoram Police personnel recovered seven US-made M4A1 carbines, one AK-56 assault rifle and 500 rounds of ammunition on a road between Champhai and Zote village on Thursday.According to sources, Thangdeihpianga (38) resident of Champhai was arrested while carrying the arms concealed in a plastic sack in a two-wheeler bearing no registration number.According to police, during interrogation the accused claimed that he had an accomplice who was a Myanmarese national and the arms were brought from Myanmar through the porous border near Ngur hamlet via the border river Tiau, he added.However, the police are yet to ascertain the destination of the weapons, state intelligence officials did not rule out the possibility of Bangladesh rebels belonging to the Chakma community being involved in the smuggling.
