It is to be mentioned here that police detained Victim Manik Roy’s wife and one of his friend Rajib Roy on March 16 regarding the incident.Banani Sarkar (27) and Rajib Roy (30) was nabbed from Madhabpur and Golaghati respectively. Rajib is a TSR Jawan of 13th Battalion which is headquartered in Kanchanpur. TSR Jawan Manik Roy was killed in Atharobhola under Killa Police Station in Udaipur Sub Division. Manik Roy’s murder took place at around 1.15pm to 1.30pm on Thursday near Gungrai , around 12km outskirts of Udaipur . Both the accused produced before the Udaipur court by the Police seeking remand so that further interrogation can unearthed.

However, earlier CJM Court Judge Mridul Chakraborty denied police remand and sent accused to Jail custody till March 23 and asked Police to submit case diary on March 23. Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Ratan Kumar Das has said that Prima Facie enquiry reveals that the killing might have occurred due to extra marital affairs. The cop was shot dead at Atharabola area of Udaipur.

TSR Jawan Manik Roy(42), S/O- Khirod Mohan Roy of Amtali in Agartala was shot from a 9mm revolver on the main road leading to Gungrai to Atharobhola on last Tuesday. He was working in TSR 10BN. He was shot twice on the back of his head and after some time local people saw the dead body lying on the road and informed the Killa police station and immediately Addl SP Gomati  Tapan DebBarma, SDPO Udaipur Ratan Kumar Das, officials of Killa police station and a large number of TSR alongwith two high officials of TSR rushed to the spot.

They found the dead body of Manik Roy lying on the road with a bike lying on other aide of the road. They recovered the body and sent it to Gomati District Hospital. Police opened the tool box of the bike TR01-09356 and from the documents they now suspect that TSR jawan Manik Roy was a resident of Amatali area under Amatali Police Station, Agartala. The black coloured bike was lying by the side of Manik's body. Again two blank shells of 9mm revolver were found from the spot and this indicates that perhaps the miscreants might have shot from the mm pistol and left the place soon after committing the incident.
