Bramhakunda Mela to start from March 26

AGARTALA, March 25 (TIWN): Like every year, 3­ day long traditional Brahmakunda Mela will start from March 26 at West Simna under Mohanpur sub division. With the initiative of Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) Department and mela organizing committee, this traditional fair will be organized. To make the 3­day long Brahmakunda mela a grand success and attractive, recently a preparatory meeting was conducted at Brahmakunda community hall.

To mark the traditional fair, various programme initiatives were taken by the mela organizing committee including exhibition on state development, cultural functions and many others. It was decided in the meeting that the stall distribution for the fair will be started from November 04, next. Besides, a 70­ member working committee and 9 sub committees have been formed in the meeting to maintain peaceful atmosphere during the 3­day long fair.

Traditionally tribals and non- tribals of Tripura take a holy bath in a stream at Simna (West Tripura) which is recognized as a holy place in Tripura. Both the tribal and non- tribal devotees take bath in the stream and pay their homage to river Ganga. Tripuri (Debbarma and Noatia), Santhal, Orang, Munda and devotees from all communities of Tripura attend the festival.
