AGARTALA, March 24 (TIWN): Tripura Pradesh 2nd October Committee today criticized the Tripura Employees Co-ordination Committee’s call for observation of 40 years of 1975 strike. The congress committee claimed that the 1975 strike was called by the then Chief Minister of Tripura Sukhamoy Sen Gupta for 13 days to press for the central pay scale to the Tripura government employees, but the it the 1975 strike was later plotted to be of communist movement. However the committee today also criticized the early published book “Tripura Gono Andolon and Tripura Sarkari Karmachari Samiti (1945-2004)” alleging that the book has inked the 1975, 19th March strike as a communist movement along with other plotted information by the Melarmath top brass leaders.

The Tripura Pradesh 2nd October Committee today held a press conference at Agartala Congress Bhawan with a call for a mass movement against the observation of 40 years of 1975 strike by the Tripura Employees Co-ordination Committee (TECC).

Talking to the media persons today at congress bhawan Pradesh 2nd October Committee President Santosh Saha claimed that the 1975 strike was called by the then Chief Minister of the state Sukhamoy Sen Gupta. The strike was called for at least 13 days for the interest of the Tripura govt. employees to press for the central pay scale to the state govt. employees here. Saha also said that on the very day i.e. on march 19, 1975 along with Tripura, the other states like Bihar, Rajasthan and Uttarpradesh went for a strike with a same demand.

Adding to that Saha alleged that though the 1975 strike was called under the regime of the Congress here at the state but later the Mealarmath top brass leaders making a conspiracy on it claimed that the 1975 strike was the communist movement. He also said that the strike was supported by at least 22 congress leaders and 1 CPI (M) MLA.

However, but the conspiracy with the 1975 strike had of course made the CPI (M) to gain a momentum after they had successfully came to power during the year 1978 here at the state Tripura, said Santosh Saha today. Saha said that during the regime of Sukhamoy Sen Gupta the state has got a sanctioned budget of Rs. 43, 60, 39000, and with this Sen Gupta has brought an engineering college, jute mill, Tripura Transport Corporation and many others to ensure over all development of the state Tripura. Adding to that Saha today said when the state now under the regime of the ruling left front govt. has got a total of sanctioned budget of Rs. 15, 000 Crore, on the other the state govt. employees are deprived at large from central pay scale.

Saha today alleged that the state govt. has been fooling the people of the state yet today due to which the govt. employees are deprived at large from the central pay scale. While except Tripura other states of the nation following the guidelines of the Finance Commission had already provided the central pay scale to their employees.

However, the Pradesh 2nd October Committee will hold a press conference at Agartala Press Club on March 25 to announce the schedule of their movement against the Observation of 40 years of 1975 strike, informed Santosh Saha.
