Security beefed up for R’Day cele | AGARTALA, January 24 (TIWN): Security has been beefed up across Tripura ahead of the celebration of 66th Republic Day to restrict any untoward incident. Alert has been sounded along the 856-km-long porous state border to keep the Republic Day celebrations peaceful, said Inspector General of Police (IGP) Nepal Das today.“Extra man power has been deployed in all vulnerable areas of the state in order to prevent any attempt to sabotage the Republic Day celebrations by any militant groups†said IGP Nepal Das. Talking to TIWN today Das said that the border areas have been put on high alert with the TSR and BSF Jawans joint stand in operation. Necessary arrangement has been made for the patrolling across the state ahead of the Republic day celebration, said Das. Teacher tries to molest girl student | AGARTALA, January 24 (TIWN): A girl student was allegedly molested by a teacher at Joysingpara under Manu Bazar police station. The girl was on her way back home after attending a religious festival at Joysingpara on January 17 nights. It was reported that Uttam Das, a teacher by profession detained the girl and tried to rape her taking the advance of the darkness. On Wednesday, the victim lodged an FIR at Manu Bazar police station. Police registered a case against Uttam Das under section 354 (B) but no arrested has been made so far. High Court orders CID for conducting DNA | AGARTALA, January 24 (TIWN): With another burden for the state CID department, the Tripura High Court recently showing displeasure over the role of the CID department passed its order to conduct DNA test of a dead body by recovering it from a graveyard. The HC passed an order on the basis of 2011 kidnap case. The high court later seeks the DNA report within three months from now. Saradha scam: Kunal Ghosh denied bail, a | KOLKATA, January 23 (TIWN): The Calcutta High Court on Thursday denied bail to Saradha scam accused and suspended Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh, while a city court extended the CBI custody of Shivnarayan Das, said to be an advisor of scam kingpin Sudipta Sen.Behind bars since November 2013 for his alleged complicity in the multi-crore-rupee scam, Ghosh who headed Saradha's media arm moved the division bench of justices Ashis Kumar Chakraborty and Subhro Kamal Mukherjee seeking bail.The defence counsel said Ghosh was cooperating with the CBI in its investigation and so he should be granted bail as he has been in jail for more than a year.The CBI counsel opposed the bail claiming that Ghosh was an influential person and if granted bail, the investigation might be hampered.Meanwhile, Das, who was arrested Jan 17 for his alleged involvement in the scam, was presented before the court on the expiry of his CBI remand.
