Left front boosts basic infrastructural development in Tripura : Chief Minister confesses lack of power, water in rural Tripura

AGARTALA, January 22 (TIWN): Chief Minister Manik Sarkar today distributed prizes to the winning depts for pandals and stalls followed by a seminar on ‘Peace and Tranquility is Pre-condition of Development & Prosperity’ at Agartala Umakanta Academy ground as part of the 43rd statehood day. Tripura celebrating 43rd statehood day with a five days long programme at Umakanta ground started from January 21.Addressing the gathering at Umakanta ground today, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar stressed upon the basic infrastructural development of the state. CM said that since after 1993 when the Left front govt. has come into power in Tripura the overall development of the state has boosted up and has brought ample opportunities for the people of the state in terms of employment, education, health, etc. Adding to that Sarkar said that the regime of Congress coalition govt. here in Tripura has left the state to remain backward from its development.

‘When the fourth Left Front government, came to power in 1998, the first concept of peoples’ plan was conceived and based on the peoples’ demand the government had started announcing perspective plans for each and every sector. It yields a very positive outcome, including help in combating terrorism against a number of odds but we need to do many things in a time bound manner,’ Sarkar reiterated.

Mr. Sarkar said that over the past one and half-decades, Tripura has become a successful model in the country for it’s performance in governance and implementation of all the programmes besides, restoring peace, brother-hood between tribals and non-tribals and equitable development in villages and towns in terms of infrastructure.

Besides, admitting the present situation of the state CM Manik Sarkar said that there is a lack of power, water and better health services in the rural Tripura. Adding to that Sarkar today urged the common mass of the state to highlight the gaps that cannot be fulfilled by the left front yet today. “The left front govt. will always stand beside poor people of the state”, said Sarkar.

However today as part of the 5 days long programme of the statehood day celebration, the governmental departments of the state has showcased the beauty and splendor of Triopura along with various cultural programmes and exhibitions has been organized at the Umakanta ground.

Tripura became the union territory without legislature with effect from November 1, 1956 and a popular ministry was installed in Tripura on July 1, 1963. On January 21, 1972 Tripura attained statehood.
