10,323 teachers’ jobs uncertain: | AGARTALA, January 8 (TIWN): Supreme Court of India postponed 10, 323 teachers termination case with the next hearing likely to be on January 15. Hearing was earlier scheduled to be held on January 9, 2015. Supreme Court has been hearing the case following the interlocutory application filed by the Tripura Govt. challenging the High Court’s verdict. During the month of December 2014 the SC stayed the HC order to terminate the jobs of at least 10, 323 teachers and allowed them to continue their service until the final disposal of the case. Supreme Court was supposed to hear the interlocutory application on January 9, filed by the Tripura Govt. to save the terminated jobs of at least 10, 323 Graduate, Under Graduate and Post Graduate teachers.Registrar of Supreme Court conducted a preliminary hearing in October this year and admitted the case for further hearing. Manju Rani murder case: Killers awarded | Agartala, January 8 (TIWN): A trial court of Agartala today sentenced Biswajit Das and Rabiul Hossain to suffer life-term rigorous imprisonment (RI) till death under section 302, 394, 120 (B), 449, 34 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) for killing a retired school teacher Manju Rani Sarkar at Jaynagar area, which rocked the city way back in October 15, 2013. The court had found guilty two youths on January 03, this year in connection with the sensational murder case. Initially his purpose was to prove that this Left Front Govt is honest in every inch but this attempt of the Minister actually came out to be a dimema for him as R D Minister himself skipped the Press Meet. Tripura Cabinet announced 5% DA for stat | AGARTALA, January 7 (TIWN): Tripura Left Front government today announced five per cent increase in the dearness allowance (DA) for its employees and pensioners in Tripura, with effect from January this year taking it to 69%, said Tripura Finance Minister Bhanulal Saha today.Talking to the reporters here at the secretariat today Finance Minister Bhanulal Saha said that the Tripura cabinet today announced the hike of DA to 5% for the state govt. employees and the pensioners. He added that the additional financial insinuation for new DA would be above Rs 157 crore per annum. The cabinet today also decided to implement VAT tax of 14.5% on tobacco items here in the state. Besides, the cabinet today approved the State University Bill. The Bill is scheduled to place before the budget session on February 14. Monarchak power plant likely to start ge | AGARTALA, January 6 (TIWN): The 101 megawatt gas-based thermal power project at Monarchak in Sipahijala, commissioned by NEEPCO, is ready for generation, but cannot be made operational due to non-supply of gas by ONGC, said S R Biswas, General Manager & Head of Project, NEEPCO.Taking to TIWN today S R Biswas, General Manager & Head of Project, NEEPCO said that the gas turbine of Monarchak Project was made ready in September 2013 for commissioning activities. It was put on record that after receipt of gas, North East Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) would require around two months to synchronise the gas turbine on an open cycle mode," S R Biswas, said. “We are hoping that within march The 101 megawatt gas-based thermal power project at Monarchak will be ready for commercial productionâ€, said Biswas.The breach of contract by ONGC has made commissioning utterly uncertain, he added.
