FIR named anti-social activist roaming freely, police silent: Resentment prevails among residents

Agartala, January 22 (TIWN): Allegations were raised by the residents of Madhuban Kathaltali and Ranir Khamar areas against Amtali police station for not taking necessary appropriate steps against an anti-social activist.

The residents alleged that Subhash Chandra Sarkar, close-aid of arrant anti-social activist Amit Ghosh is allegedly involved with several anti-social activities including illegal trade of Phensedyl, abrupt attack on common people, harassing people with the power of black money, lodging fake cases against the locals and many more.

The visibly angry residents of Kathaltali and Ranir Khamar areas further alleged that, taking the chance of loneliness of a widow in rubber plantation, culprit Subhash molested her on January 15. Reportedly, he had also tried to rape the widow.
At the same time when the widow started shouting for help, the local residents caught him and handed over to police. A case was also registered at Amtali police station (case no- 11/15) against Subhash Chandra Sarkar under section 325, 354, 376 and 511 of IPC, said locals.
Over two hundred residents of Madhuban Kathaltali and Ranir Khamar areas submitted a deputation today at the Amtali police station seeking immediate arrest of an anti-social activist and stern action against him on January 19.
During the deputation, SDPO Amtali Harimohan Das and OC of Amtali police station- Pranjit Ghosh assured the angry mob of taking appropriate action against him.
In spite of arresting the culprit, police are playing a role like mute spectators over the issue giving liberty to the culprit for free roaming, alleged the locals. They further alleged that the culprit reportedly made the police-eyes close.
MLAs of Suryamaninagar and Badharghat constituencies- Rajkumar Chowdhury and DIlip Sarkar strongly condemned over the issue, said locals. 
Besides, the annoyed locals sought intervention from Chief Minister, Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) and Superintendent of Police (SP), West over this sensitive issue.
