AGARTALA, January 24 (TIWN): Bankim Debbarma, assistant commandant of 12th battalion TSR to be awarded with Presidents Police Medal for Gallantry during the celebration ceremony of Republic Day on January 26 at Assam Riffles Ground.

 During the year 2012 acting on a tip-off Bankim Debbarma along with other police personnel conducted a search in operation in along Indo-Bangla international border at Raiyashabari where six extremists were found  taking shelter in a jhum hut. In the encounter one extremist of band NLFT outfit was killed.

It is to be mentioned here that for the year 2014 the best policeman of the year award was given to Bankim Debbarma, assistant commandant of 12th battalion TSR.

Bankim Debbarma was a student of Boys Bodjung School. In 1997 he joined TSR as naik subedar. He has always been in the forefront in the counter insurgency operations in different parts of the state. He also took imitative to organise civic action programs in the distressed pockets.
