Kailashahar: Seven including 2 police pe | KAILASHAHAR,October 24 (TIWN): 2 police constables were seriously injured and 5 others suffered major injuries when a group of smugglers in Debipur village near Bangladesh border attacked on a police party when they went there to raid a residence of an anti-social Nazir Ali, a well known smuggler of Bidi materials to Bangladesh. The incident took place at around 6pm on Friday. Police got an authentic information that Bidi materials are hoarded in Nazir Ali's residence and expected to be sold in Bangladesh crossing the border. Immediately SDPO Sudipta Das rushed to the spot with a large number of police and BSF personnel. As soon as the police reached the village, a group of 250 plus smugglers and villagers encircled the police force and without any provocation they attacked the police. BDO Bimal is the prime accused of misappropriation of MGNREGA fund to the tune of Rs 17 crores during his tenure as BDO in Bishalgarh. On September 19 this year, the incumbent BDO of Bishalgarh Subrata Das lodged FIR against Bimal and 11 others official in the local police station.However, Bimal’s close sources now made it clear that in police custody he will divulge in details, if requires Bimal will make his statement before magistrate. Because out of the looted money of Rs 17 crore, as per his relatives, Bimal hardly got big funds except a mere Rs 50 Lakhs for face-lifting of his house at Badharghat and a few family vacation trips. Tripura Opposition Leader flashes anothe | AGARTALA, Oct 22 (TIWN): Tripura Opposition Leader- Sudip Roy Barman Wednesday publicly flashed another report of public fund misappropriation in Social Welfare and Social Education Department in the implementation of Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension (IGNOAP) scheme in Tripura. As a result, the state government is facing trouble in the so called ‘golden era’ of ruling front.According to the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report, 21288 beneficiaries under the National Old age Pension Scheme with an annual pension liability of Rs 21.05 crore were found spent on dead, ineligible or noon-existent, said Sudip. Altogether, 62, 739 beneficiaries are there under IGNOAP scheme while physical verification was conducted for 46, 738 beneficiaries. TSPCB and administration launches joint | Agartala, October 22(TIWN): The Tripura State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) will station mobile air pollution monitoring vans at Agartala, Udaipur, Ambassa and Dharmanagar to keep a track on the cracker bursting. A top level official of TSPCB, informed that in order to control the bursting of crackers above decibel, such measures are taken.Officials also informed the team monitoring the van will have to submit report to the committee of Supreme Court, briefing the details about the decibel of crackers. Usually the norms of TPSCB is Crackers should be bursted below 90 decibels.Besides these, The Tripura State Pollution Control Board has also issued a notification saying that under Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, and Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, the maximum permissible noise level of firecrackers has been fixed at 90 decibel impulse noise at five meters from the source. The Supreme Court in 2005 had ruled that there should be a complete ban on bursting sound-emitting firecrackers between 10 pm and 6 am. | 22-Oct-2014 |
