PALATANA/UDAIPUR, October 24 (TIWN): The Trial Run for the Unit-II of OTPCs 726.6MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine(CCGT) Thermal Power plant at Palatana is likely to start from next Tuesday, Oct 28, confirmed a top level OTPC official on Friday afternoon.Speaking to TIWN over phone the official said," The Seal Oil Pump Motor of the Gas Turbine that went out of order is likely to reach the project site by tonight or maximum by tomorrow morning. It is a new Seal Oil Pump Motor that has been found in BHEL's manufacturing unit in Hyderabad. Recently BHELs AGM B K Bhora went to Hyderabad and instructed the authorities there to send the new one for Palatana project. And though it was dispatched fifteen days before, now it is expected by tonight. If it is reached BHEL will take a day to reinstall the Seal Oil Pump Motor and after some preliminary experiments BHEL will start the Trial Run from Tuesday. "

Meanwhile the Unit-I has again started to generate its full capacity. Last week BHEL conducted  a shutdown in Unit-I due to a leakage in Heat Recovery Steam Generator(HRSG). However, the technical experts of OTPC, BHEL and Sugex Oman India Pvt Ltd repaired plugged the leakage and power generation started from the midnight of 21st October though it was scheduled to start from the midnight of  23rd October. Up to 4.30pm on Friday OTPC is generating 352MW from its Unit-I.
At the same time the probable visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the Commercial Generation(COG) from the Unit-II in the third week of November is still on the cards. A top level OTPC official told TIWN," We are working overtime keeping the PMs visit in mind. Our Headquarters too has instructed BHEL to complete the Trial Run by the first week of November and make the unit-II ready for COG by 10th November. And during 10th to 17th November technical experts will go for random monitoring to avoid the 2013 episode when the Unit-I went for a complete trip due to major problems in Gas Booster Compressor. This time BHEL won't take any risk. If everything goes well Prime Minister will inaugurate COG by 21st or 23rd November."
