Agartala, October 22 (TIWN): Tripura’s Rural Development Minister, Naresh Jamatia met with the Central Rural Development Minister, Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday. Focus had been given on various vital issues including the inclusion of more blocks as backward block, MGNREGA etc.
In a formal meet with Central R.D Minister, at the transport Bhawan of Delhi, Mr. Jamatia urged to allocate more funds under MGNREGA and Indira Abas Yojna. He also stressed on the inclusion of more blocks as backward blocks. Besides, Tripura’s R.D Minister expressed dissatisfaction regarding the supply of insufficient amount of money to the State which stands in the first position on the works of MGNREGA.
In reply, Mr. Gadkari told that in the meantime, in the second installment, amount of Rs. 193 crores 73lakhs 38thousand had already been dispatched to the State. He also committed to extend the money based on the upgradation of work of MGNREGA. Mr. Gadkari further added that this second consignment had only been given to Tripura. Talking on the issue of inclusion of more blocks as backward blocks, R.D Minister told that, if the State Government wishes to extend, they may extend. But no additional amount will be given, he informed.
Besides these, focus had also been given on the introduction of Normal IAY quota, financial assistance to the victims of storms. During the meeting Mr. Jamatia was accompanied by the Additional Secretary of R.D Department, Mr. C.K. Jamatia.
Earlier, Mr Jamatia had sent a letter to the Central R.D. Department on August 8, mentioning to increase the amount of MGNREGA and inclusion of more blocks as backward blocks.
Left Front Gov. solely dependent on various central funds to run state, also ruling party machinery, but Modi Govt. started strict monitoring of misuse of central funds due to rampant corruptions in MGNREGA and other central schemes.
