Modi tentatively to inaugurate the COG o | PALATANA/UDAIPUR, October 6 (TIWN): The Commercial Generation(COG) from the Unit-II of OTPCs 726.6 Combined Cycle Gas Turbine(CCGT) Thermal Power Plant in Palatana is likely to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 3rd week of November. The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) is learnt to have been informed about the inaugural programme by the top level officials of ONGC, said a top level OTPC engineer on Sunday night. He said ," We are now working with a specific target to start COG from Unit-II(363.3MW) by the 3rd week of November. However, this time we are not doing anything in a hurry especially after the horrible experience in June,2013 when the unit-I had totally failed soon after the President of India Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated the COG from Unit-I. That's why we are not taking any risk this time. A miracle of Goddess Durga from the era | AMBASSA, 83 BN BSF Camp, October 3 (TIWN): A miracle or god’s grace, but this perhaps is the might of Goddess Durga that when a disastrous earthquake blew off everything alongwith it, an idol of goddess Durga remained intact.The ‘Ashta Dhatu’ (a special metallic substance having eight metals amalgamated into it) Durga idol was discovered by S.B.Thakuri way back in the year 1971 during Indo-Pak war for liberation of Bangladesh. On December 15, 1971 when ‘C’ coy of 83 battalion was retreating after the ceasefire, Ex-Lance Nayek S.B.Thakuri was enlightened by the divine call and went near the debris , dug into it and found a Durga idol weighing about 40 KG. Thereon, wherever the battalion visited they carried on the idol with them. The Durga idol moved with the battalion to many far flung areas of north east India like Mizoram, Kalal and Sunderban. Tripura’s Year on Year (YoY)rise | AGARTALA, October 3 (TIWN): Amidst the enormous central grant involving Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) and 9:1 Central State bearing ratio as a special category state, Tripura has seen a fiscal deficit of Rs.7683 crore in the Financial Year (FY) 2012-13 with a sharp rise in the figure as regards FY 2011-12’s figure of Rs. 6871 crore. More significantly, the lions share contributor of the deficit, the internal borrowings has risen from Rs. 3558.87 (FY 2011-12) crore to Rs.4108.13 crore in 2012-13. Thus the internal borrowings constituted 58.27 % of total revenue receipts where the total debt was 108.97 % of total revenue. Relating to the same, the state has been failed to keep the fiscal deficit within the revised price estimate of Rs. 7534.99 crore for FY 2012-13. The fiscal deficit had showed an upward trend primarily because of rise in internal borrowings and receipts from the Public Accounts & Reserve Funds. However, the loans and advance from Government of India (GoI) was reduced from Rs. 406.97 crore to Rs.379.24 crore (2012-13). | 03-Oct-2014 |

Tripura to consume highest ever power du | AGARTALA, October 2 (TIWN):Tripura is reported to consume highest ever power during Puja days. Though, a deficit of 46 megawatt (MW) still exists. However on Thursday talking to TRIPURAINFOWAY.com, Chairman cum Managing Director (CMD) of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL) had mentioned that no such load shedding of electricity has occurred till now. CMD told that this year the consuming demand of electricity for Tripura on the occasion of Puja days is said to be 261 Megawatt. This is considered as highest ever demand of power in the state. The total amount of deficit is recorded to be 46 Megawatt.CMD also informed that the own power generation at the peak hour is 95 Megawatt and out of this Rukhia contributed 44 from its one unit and Baramura contributed 42MW.
