AGARTALA, April 18 (TIWN): The CPI (M) is all set to strengthen their oppose to “24 hours Tripura Bandh”, whereas the Congress are in their way to gain success through their Tripura Bandh.

24 hours strike called by Congress is expected to receive mixed response.

Demanding resignation of CM Manik Sarkar congress has called for 24 hours Tripura bandh on April 18 in the state.

Over alleged involvement of CM Manik Sarkar’s direct or indirect involvement in the murder case of the then Health Minister Bimal Sinha in the state 18 years back, congress has called this strike demanding resignation of CM Manik Sarkar.

A total of 2000 congress supporters will participate in the strike across the state. The party is also scheduled to raised slogans pitching their voice high in the state for observing strike on April 18.

Following the report of the Justice Yusuf Commission, which inquired into the assassination of Bimal Sinha, it is clear that Chief Minister Manik Sarkar was involved in his murder for political reasons,"

Congress has demand CBI inquiry into the assassination and immediate resignation of Sarkar from the post of Chief Minister. A 24-hour strike has been called by the party to press for the demand.

It is to be mentioned here that opposition congress alleged that Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar being either directly or indirectly involved in the assassination of his former cabinet colleague and Health Minister Bimal Sinha.

Terming the allegation raised by Congress as baseless CPI-M demanded to prove the allegations or to resign from the assembly.  The allegation put up by Congress is completely wild, baseless, false and politically motivated. CPI-M has further demanded that either they shall have to prove otherwise they shall have to resign from the Assembly.

However, according to the Yusuf Commission report the then state health minister Bimal Sinha had hand with the extremist and his relationship with the extremist has lead to his death.

Sinha was assassinated due to his close link with the banned insurgent outfit National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT), stated the report. Challenging the yususf commission report opposition congress alleged that CM Manik Sarkar has hand in the murder case and in past 18 years necessary changes are made to save the so called white image ofSarkar.

The report of the Yusuf commission was not made public by the state government though he was killed by the extremists on March 31, 1998. Sinha and his younger brother Bidyut Sinha were gunned down by the militants of the outlawed National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT).
