NCT candidate for ADC council election Nilima Debbarma was found gang raped and murdered, was later hanged on a tree at Khowai Aidonkhur ADC village under Champahaor Police Station on Feb 18,2011.However, later three TSR 6th battalion rifle men Anantahori Jamatia, Narayn Ghosh and Deepak Tripura were accused of killing Nilima and was sent to jail. 2008 Agartala bombings case : 4 convicts | AGARTALA, April 28 (TIWN): The additional District and Session Court Judge S.B. Dutta on Tuesday awarded life term imprisonment to the 4 convicts of Agartala bombings case took place during the year 2008. The punishment was awarded after at least 7 years. Public Prosecutor of the case was R P Roy and Special Public Prosecutor was L R Khadim. The 4 convicted are Kumari Debbarma, Dinesh Debbarma, Sachindra Debbarma and Vikash Debbarma. They were accused on charge of influencing the bombings took place at Agartala during the year 2008. However on Saturday the Additional District and Session Court Judge S.B. Dutta convicted the 4 accused the case. All the blasts took place within a span of 45 minutes and the capital city of the relatively peaceful North-Eastern state of Tripura was put on the terror map.Crude bombs were apparently used and timers were used to set them off. The bombs were planted on cycles and motor bikes while two other bombs were recovered and defused.The blasts went off at Agartala's main shopping area Maharaja Ganj Bazar, Gobind Ballah Pant market, a busy Radhanagar bus stand, Agartala Motorstand, Bottala and Abhay Nagar localities. The first blast happened at Gul Bazar around 7:30 pm (IST), followed by two more at Radha Nagar Bus stand and G B Bazar, around 7:35 and 8:15 respectively. Congress alleged Manik Sarkar supporter | AGARTALA, April 28 (TIWN): With the general election to TTAADC knocking at the door, the Pradesh Congress recently brought a serious allegation against Chief Minister Manik Sarkar saying, “Manik Sarkar and its CPI-M party is an ally to murderer and has given birth to the insurgents across the state. “Alleging Sarkar as an ally to the accused of the murder cases, Congress recently said that suspended CPI-M leader Jiten Das and multi-crore scamster Bimal Chakroborty is known to be a close aide of Manik Sarkar. TPCC working President Ashish Saha alleged that Sarkar managed to lead an escape path for Bimal on Bishalgarh MGNREGA multi crore scam, and has been trying now to rescue his another close aide Jiten Das hushing up the case of Kalpana Das murder case. Central pay scale case in High Court : | AGARTALA, April 28 (TIWN): The deprived state govt. employees may get back their smile on July 28, next as the High Court of Tripura has fixed July 28, as the next day of hearing in the Saubhik Roy Bardhan case demanding Central pay benefits for the state government employees here.The two member Divisional bench comprising of Chief Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice Subhasish Talapatra will deliver their judgment on July 28 next in the eagerly awaited case. It may be mentioned here that the state government employees are getting only 69% DA as compared to 113% of the central government employees at present creating a difference of 44% among the central and state government employees.Under pressure from various section of the society including the opposition parties here the Manik Sarkar led left government announced central grade pay to the state govt. employees with effect from April 1, 2015 without changing the other benefits like the House Rent allowances, Conveyance allowances, Medical allowances of the state govt. employees.The employees interest related case filed by Saubhik Roy Bardhan on January 27, 2015 in the Divisional Bench of Chief Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice Subhasish Talapatra was scheduled for hearing on Monday last but the tricky stand taken by the Government advocate postponed the judgment till July 28 next. | 28-Apr-2015 |
BJP President Amit Shah exposes CPI(M)â | AGARTALA , April 28 (TIWN): In his maiden visit to the state, BJP’s All India President Amit Shah virtually exposed the “Blame Centre†game played by the ruling CPI(M) here for long. Addressing party workers and supporters at the Swami Vivekananda Stadium here on Monday for the first time, the firebrand BJP president came down heavily on the ruling CPI(M) government led by chief minister Manik Sarkar. The BJP president’s speech of forty minutes practically left the CPI(M)’s “Blame Centre†attitude wide exposed. Mr. Shah said that the Tripura chief minister feverishly lies to the people when he says that the centre has stopped REGA scheme.
