Thanks to 2-3 national media organisations who have come out from the illusion of Sarkar’s clean character, he is now nowhere.More interestingly, so called self-proclaimed opportunist intellectuals of Agartala have also stopped flattering Manik Sarkar. It is observed that CPI-M mouthpiece in Tripura, Manik’s funded online media group and CPI-M managed TV channels in Tripura, Sarkar’s beneficiaries working in identified news agencies and an eastern India based English daily did not write single word on the development of the issue. Hearing of the 10,323 teacher terminatio | AGARTALA, April 6 (TIWN): The decision of the finalization of the Court to hear the leave petition of the 10,323 teachers’ termination case was placed at Registrar Court No-2 of Supreme Court of India on Monday. However due to the appeal of the petitioners, the hearing was scheduled on July 27. Talking to TIWN, the Law Secretary Data Mohan Jamatia said that the finalization of the Court would now be decided on the scheduled tentative date.In the mean time, the notice had been sent to the defense parties. After the hearing on January 28, next date of hearing of the 10,323 teacher termination case was scheduled on April 6. After the first hearing in the month of August, the case was again placed in the Court for hearing today. Though no satisfactory result was announced and anxiety still prevails among the 10,323 teachers. Registrar of Supreme Court conducted a preliminary hearing in October this year and admitted the case for further hearing. Till now among 431 persons, 20 or 30 persons have not received the notice. It is to be mention that 500 petitions were submitted at the Court.The Supreme Court in the year 2009 issued a notification that in case of appointment of teachers new education policy should be implemented. As per the notification, Central Government had instructed the State Governments to take this policy in action. Minister Badal Chowdhury endorsed allega | AGARTALA, April 6 (TIWN): Opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman crediting the former Finance Minister Badal Chowdhury claimed that Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has been lying the common masses of the state stating that he didn’t know the real entity of Rose valley chit fund company. Barman on Sunday evening talking to TIWN thanked Minister Badal Chowdhury for his move to bring the “Govt. knew Rose valley’s real entity in 1998†under limelight. He said recently the NLFT leaders had a talk with the Central Govt. in regard of their demands, and another meeting would be held after the TTAADC election declared to be held on May 3, 2015. “As of now the NLFT militants would not surrender until their demands are fulfilled by the Central govt.†According to the source, the state govt. here has confirmed the move of tripartite talks recently. He said, “We do want peace here at the state and we are on a move to the central govt. to fulfill our demandsâ€. He also said that NLFT would not surrender but would maintain peace here at the state. Members of Tripura’s two militant groups - NLFT and All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) sheltered and availed arms training in Bangladesh, which shares 856-km border with Tripura. Pre-monsoon storm devastates power suppl | AGARTALA, April 5 (TIWN): An ambitious project to lay underground power cables in Agartala by the Tripura State Electricity Corporation (TSECL) were knocked down across the state recently with heavy thundering storm devastated power supply. The plan has envisaged a two-year period to complete the project in greater municipal area to get rid of overhead power lines, but yet today the people of the state see no solution to the overhead congested power lines. Pre-monsoon thundering squall across the state recently has disrupted the power supply. Life and business has been largely affected due to power cuts enforced for hours recently.Though getting respite from the scorching heat, heavy rains crippled normal life. Within 24 hours of heavy downpour across the state disrupted electricity connections in few areas. Tripura militant outfit NLFT keen to sur | AGARTALA, April 5 (TIWN / IANS) Guerrillas of the outlawed National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) are keen to surrender if their demands are met, a top Tripura police official said on Sunday.And in view of this, a preliminary meeting involving officials of the central and Tripura governments and NLFT leaders was held in Shillong on April 2, Director General of Police K. Nagaraj told IANS."The meeting was fruitful and positive," the Tripura police chief said. "Some modalities were worked out at the Shillong meeting." Two senior officers of Kumarghat Horticu | AGARTALA, April 5 (TIWN): Two senior officers of Kumarghat Horticulture department office were suspended for their alleged misappropriation of Rs. 6 crore in the horticulture department. The name of the two officers are; Hera Lal Debnath and Dulal Kar. According to sources, the two senior officers were unable to show the expenses of Rs. 6 crore which they spend in the name of horticulture development. As a result both the officers were suspended. A committee has been formed to investigate the issue, said sources. Badal bats for Chit fund tainted Manik; | AGARTALA, April 4 (TIWN): Former Finance Minister Badal Choudhury today confessed that the Rose Valley Chit fund company had illegally acquired land to set up the park at Agartala Amtali area. Talking to the media persons here at the Civil Secretariat today Minister Choudhuri said that the State Govt. was aware of the illegal trading business of the rose valley since the year 1998. But Minister today denying the allegation against Manik Sarkar said that CM has not patronized the Rose Valley and its business. He later asked the media persons to prove it. NLFT on peace talk to central govt., ser | AGARTALA, April 4 (TIWN): The banned militant outfit National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) would hold a peace talks with the central and the Tripura governments today leaving behind their decades-long agenda for sovereignty and an independent state. The Union ministry of home affairs (MHA) has also agreed to the militant outfit's proposal. According to the highly placed source during the meeting today the NLFT leaders would place certain demands with the central govt. today, and if the demands are fulfilled than the NLFT cadres would again meet the central govt. after the general election to TTAADC, declared to be held on May 3.The source today talking to TIWN said that the leaders of the NLFT would hold a peace talks with the centre as well as with the state govt. He said the talks would be within the constitutional provision. The meeting is scheduled to be held today at Shillong. However, it is worthy to mention here that the NLFT led by its self-styled chief Biswamohan Debbarma expressed its willingness to the central government a few months back to hold talks. Some congress leaders likely to join BJP | AGARTALA, April 4 (TIWN): In a major setback ahead of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election here in the state a group of high profile congress leaders including some MLAs are trying to join Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).According to BJP party sources, the congress leaders believed that the party high command not at all sincere to remove the CPI (M) from power in Tripura. The leaders earlier contacted with the BJP central leaders in Delhi and explained their reasons to join BJP but the latter not given any final words to accept them in BJP.The central leaders will take a decision keeping eyes on the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections. Central leaders wanted to know the opinion of the state committee about the proposal of congress leaders. BJP state committee conveyed their decision to the central leaders and now the Delhi may take decision, the source mentioned.It is to be mentioned here that BJP National General Secretary Ram Lal Ji criticized the Left Front for having their orthodox mentality and they haven’t served the common people. 10,323 teacher termination case: Supreme | AGARTALA, April 4 (TIWN): Uncertainty still prevails over the fate of the terminated teachers. The state government filed Special leave petition (SLP) challenging verdict of High Court of Tripura termination jobs of 10,323 teachers would come up for discussion in the register court of the apex court on April 6.The register court will decide in which court will hear the case. In response to the SLP, the court has issued notices to 500 unemployed youths and over 400 deprived job seekers had submitted affidavit before the Supreme Court.It is to be mentioned here that the High Court had terminated jobs of 10,323 teachers for violation of basic norms last year. However, the state government had strongly opposed and filed a SLP in the Supreme Court challenging the High Court’s verdict. On the other hand ¬ a section of the job aspirants among 10,323 teachers will file a criminal case against the State Government.
