TSR Jawan murder case : 3 detained with | UDAIPUR, April 4 (TIWN): Three detained with arms and ammunition from Khowai on charge of TSR jawan Manik Roy murder case got 1 day jail custody on Friday at Udaipur. On April 1st Khowai police managed to detain at least three men along with arms and ammunitions from Khowai. However the three were found to be involved with the TSR murder case incident occurred on March 12 at Killa under South District. The three accused were produced before the Udaipur Second Class Judicial Magistrate Court after they were brought to Udaipur from Khowai. Besides, the other two accused persons who were earlier arrested on the case are behind the bar now. They will be produced before the court again on April 8 after their 14 days jail custody.It is worthy to be mentioned here that acting on a tip off Khowai SDPO Jyotishmoy Das Choudhuri along with his police squad on Wednesday midnight detained at least three men from Belsang Chibuk Khar village under Khowai Police Station. Police also recovered one 9 mm pistol and 4 round live cartridges from the detained persons. They were identified as Nalesh Debbarma (35) TSR Jawan resident of Khowai Baijalbari, Sanjit Debbarma (30) and another Sanjit Debbarma (38) of the same area. According to the police amongst the three Nalesh Debbarma, who is a TSR Jawan by profession was found to have murdered the TSR jawan Manik Roy, while earlier another accused person Rajib Roy was found to be the mastermind behind the incident. | 04-Apr-2015 |
TTAADC election: NLFT plans to disrupt t | AGARTALA, April 4 (TIWN): Just after the announcement of the date of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) poll slated to be held on May 3, the banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) have been planning to disrupt the elections of the twenty eight member Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election here in the state. According to sources, the extremists’ threat has started rising in the eastern sector with incidents of kidnapping of workers for subscription, ransom money. The banned outfit earlier served letters to the villagers to give subscription as land and property tax. In the letter, they fixed the amounts ranging from Rs. 2000 to Rs. 12000 as per the living standards. They even threatened to abduct the villagers if they failed to pay the money as per their demand within due time, the source added. Fresh recruitment by Teachers’ Re | AGARTALA, April 4 (TIWN): With an aim to recruit teachers the newly formed Tecahers’ Recruitment Board (TRB) by the state govt. looks set to fill up the vacant posts of Lower division Clerk (LDC) and Group D to revamp the function of various schools as well as offices under the school education department. According to sources, after the ADC elections, the School Education department will place its requisition for teachers at all levels with its teacher recruitment process.As per the government’s decision, no teacher will be appointed without conducting Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). The board will conduct the TET to fill vacant teacher posts. However, the exact date for conducting TET is yet to be finalized. The department will fill up the vacant posts of LDCs and Group-D on its own. Meanwhile, School Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty was scheduled to held a review meeting on the department’s performance today. IPFT plans secret strategy for ADC elect | AGARTALA, April 4 (TIWN): The Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), an open political organization of the outlawed NLFT outfit, which let loose blood bath annihilating several hundred people, both Bengalis and tribals, for more than a decade in Tripura today talking to TIWN said that the IPFT has a strategy for ADC election but cannot be said here likewise. However such a statement of the IPFT President N. C. Debbarma has triggered a series of questions behind “Secret Strategy†remark. Because, the IPFT is now on a long run to succeed the demand of the “Twipra land†by any means during the ADC election. The village is having a Senior Basic School located at a distance of 1 km from the market. The school is the only educational institute in the tribal hamlet. “Tripura Govt. April fooled employ | AGARTALA, April 3 (TIWN): “The announcement of the central pay scale by the state govt. is nothing but a fret drive to divert the attention from the chit fund scam,†claimed opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman holding a press conference here at Agartala Congress Bhawan on Thrusday evening. Barman alleged that by demanding for additional Rs. 17, 000 crore for the next five years as a special grant from the central govt. the state govt. here has been on a spree to fool its employees. Raising a question over the demand of the special grant amount form the centre, Barman said that the central govt. has not yet assured the state to provide the grant amount, than how come the state govt. can announce the central pay scale for the state govt. employees here at the state. While to mention here Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and Finance Minister Bhanulal Saha 2 days back said that after the central govt. provides Rs. 17, 000 crore to the state as a special grant than it would be possible to give central pay scale to the employees of the state. NEEPCO puts CCPP Unit II in line at RC N | AGARTALA, April 3 (TIWN): NEEPCO has successfully synchronized second unit of combine cycle power plant at RC Nagar recently producing 26 MW power, said Project Head Subrata Saha today to TIWN. However, Saha said that the commercial generation of the power plant likely to be by June, 2015. Earlier, the first unit of combine cycle was successfully synchronized. Once both units get operational commercially, they will generate 52 (26+26) MW power.he NEEPCO has already spent Rs. 370 crore to convert the 84 MW (21x4) RC Nagar power project into combine cycle by using wastage recovering boiler technique. It means, the NEEPCO looks set to add 52 MW more power from its existing power plant at RC Nagar without using extra natural gas.Talking to TIWN Project Head Subrata Saha said that if everything falls in right place, the NEPCO would be able to generate 136 MW power from RC Nagar power plant.Saha also mentioned that at present the gas based turbines are undergoing tests and it would persist for few more days to remove all errors in the GT. | 03-Apr-2015 |

300 CCTV cameras likely to be installed | AGARTALA, April 3 (TIWN): Three closed-circuits TV (CCTV) cameras have been already installed in Bishalgarh Police and nine other police stations also have been already brought under CCTV camera surveillance, and installation in remaining stations would be done in phases.The Tripura government has decided to install close circuit (CC) camera in all police stations of the State, said a highly placed source of traffic department.The source further added that a total of 30 closed-circuits TV (CCTV) cameras have been installed in Agartala to keep a close watch on street crime across the sprawling capital. Chit fund ghost haunts Tripura CM : Man | AGARTALA, April 2 (TIWN): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar is having some sleepless nights these days as the ghost of chitfund is haunting him like anything. Sarkar would have never imagined that the things would take such a nasty turn as the opposition is demanding hard for CBI enquiry into the multicrore rupees chit fund scam in the state and the involvement of CPI(M) party leaders including Chief Minister Manik Sarkar. The situation further worsened when a leading Kolkata based news channel ABP Ananda aired a discussion on the chit funds’ operations in the Tripura. ABP Ananda quoted State's leading online portal TRIPURAINFOWAY.com for links and pictures of Manik Sarkar and Ministers like Bijita Nath promoting Rose Valley and other Chit fund companies. Political thinktanks here are of the opinion that the much highlighted clean image of the Chief minister was damaged after the telecast of the particular programme in the news channel nationwide. Even the State Secretary of CPI(M) Bijan Dhar who was so far taking a staunch stand defending the party and the Chief minister against any allegation about the involvement of the party leaders said that the CM could have averted the inauguration programme of the Amusement Park owned by RoseValley Group at Amtali near Agartala in 2008. Central Pay scale declaration grumbles T | AGARTALA, April 2 (TIWN): Tripura Govt. Employees Federation (TGEF) on wednesday reacting sharply on the recent declaration of the central pay scale by the state govt. claimed that the govt. had simply fooled the common govt employees of the state in the name of showing a lollipop ahead of the ADC poll. “Though the state govt. (last state in country) had accepted the implementation of the 6th pay commission recently, but the deprivation for the govt. employees still prevails because this has not brought any major change to the central pay scale,†TGEF General Secretary Samar Roy said here at TGEF office. Other States in country are in the process to implement 7th pay commission recommendations from January 2016 and Tripura Govt. trying to fool employees by offering 6th pay commission recommendations which was intentionally delayed for many years. Finance Commission awarded funds to different states including Tripura leaving no excuses left before the government for not paying its employees at par central scale. Still, the Minister Bhanulal said that they will face dearth of funds after investing 30 percent of the fund in the schemes,†Roy said. OTPC Power Project: Bangladesh consent t | AGARTALA, April 1 (TIWN): Bangladesh government gives consent to purchase 100 Megawatts (MW) power from Tripura. However, the completion of the setting-up of the Radial Interconnection Line likely to get completed within December 2015. In the meantime, the work for setting-up of powerline from Suryamaninagar to South Comilla will be starting from April. It is to be mentioned here that earlier, a joint team of India and Bangladesh shortlisted a 51 KM long route from Suryamaninagar in Agartala to South Comilla in Bangladesh for the proposed Radial Interconnection Line. The Indian part of the supply line would cover a 24 KM distance from Suryamaninagar to Konaban border in Sepahijala district of Tripura. The Bangladesh part will extend for 27 KM from Konaban to South Comilla. India had commenced supply of 250 MW of power to Bangladesh last year after the government ¬run Bangladesh Power Development Board and India's NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd (NVVN), a subsidiary of India's National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), signed a deal Feb 28, 2012 to supply 250 MW of electricity following an agreement signed during Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to New Delhi in January 2010. INPT declares lists of 26 candidates for | AGARTALA, April 1 (TIWN): Tribal based political party of the state Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra (INPT) today declared the lists of 26 candidates for the ensuing Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election, 2015. This year the INPT has brought at least 22 new faces of its candidates while one women candidate Pritilata Debbarma for Simna-Tamakari constituency. Talking to TIWN today INPT General Secretary Jagadish Debbarma said that the strategy of INPT for the ensuing ADC election scheduled to be held on May3, would be empowerment to TTAADC.
