AGARTALA, April 30 (TIWN): Under climate change mitigation mission the British Government on Thursday agreed funding to 10 Municipal Corporation of the state excluding Agartala for Solid waste Management and LED illumination system. Deputy High Commissioner, Kolkata Scott Furssedonn Wood on Thursday holding a meeting with the stake holders here has suggested to send compulsion proposal for the lighting system of the urban areas outside Agartala. The Pollution Control Board, NGOs and other leading personalities of the state and top govt. officials remained present in the meeting. Mr. Scott also shared the views of British Govt. regarding climate change mitigation programme. He also expressed his interest to help Tripura in climate change mitigation activities at the initial stage. However, the funding agreed to be done to the 10 Municipal Corporations excluding the capital city Agartala.According to the experts, unmanaged solid waste and garbage are one of the most important elements for emission of heat releasing green house gas in the atmosphere.
Besides, conventional electric generation has also caused a serious threat to the city environment which attracted the British Deputy High Commissioner in Kolkata to fund for it.
