AGARTALA, April 11 (TIWN): All India Democratic Women's Association on Monday forwarded a letter to the Central Government demanding to increase the fund under the MGNREGA to the State.
According to reports, Union Ministry for Rural Development in its letter mentioned that as Tripura has recorded only 36.4 percent work in the last financial year, the centre has slash down the fund under MGNREGA scheme.
Therefore, a total of 1, 92, 36000 man days under the MGNREGA scheme for the Financial Year 2016-17 has been slashed down.
The huge slash down has shaken the Rural Development Department forcing them to conduct rallies, meeting and letters to the centre demanding to increase the number of man days.
With the sudden slash down in the man days under the MGNREGA scheme for the financial year 2016-17 has brought a huge embarrassment for the State.
It is to be mentioned here that despite of being an example for the other state of making excellent work for five consecutive work the slashed down in the man days has brought a major jolt to the State.
The All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) is the women's wing of the Communist Party of India (Marxist).
It is to be mentioned here that Pappa Umanath founded the Democratic Women's Association in Tamil Nadu in 1973, working for women's rights and for their education, employment and status, along with issues like casteism, communalism, child rights and disaster aid.
