AMARPUR, April 1 (TIWN) : The long pending demand for Pacca Bridge over Gomati River of Amarpur Rangamati area remain unsolved for last 15 years .Poor quality of Wood Bridge still hanging . Sources said, the bridge was constructed almost a decade back but no step yet been taken to repair it.
The people, especially the school children crosses the bridge everyday taking the risks of their lives, but the concerned PWD authorities did not take any positive initiative to construct a Foot bridge as per the demand of the residents.
“It becomes very risky to cross the bridge every day. Many people including children and aged persons often face the risks. They have raised demand to construct a wooden bridge instead of the existing one.
Still, the administration is silent,” said one local people. Moreover, a section of locals raised allegation regarding long pending of renovation work of wooden Bridge of the area. In the name of repairing wood bridge local Contractor CPIM supporters earning money every year two times.
During rainy season it turns pathetic leading a dangerous situation. It also happened that due to the pathetic condition of the bridge the locals had to use boats to cross the river.
The locals complained that the bridge is gradually losing its strength to hold the weight of any heavy vehicles. It is turning poor as the heavy vehicle passes through the bridge.
However, the students and peoples who are residing in the area and had to cross the river daily to go the schools, colleges, offices including many other, faces huge problem to cross the river.
Listening to the hue and cry of the locals the team of MLA assured to look into the situation and to bring up the plea at the Vidhan Sabha. But till today no development had been made. CM Manik again blame Centre for Tripura’s lack of Development. CM Manik Sarkar’s Blame game continues.
