AGARTALA, April 2 (TIWN): Tall claims of development by the ministerial authority where goes high, several minor girls and married women are being victimized under the golden era of the State.
Ruling Government where claims that Tripura is among the fast developing state in the country, cases of crime against women are piling up.
Though several seminar and workshop are being organized by the government organization to create awareness but it seems like this kind of programmes means nothing if any strict initiatives are not taken to curb the rising crime.
Just claiming about that initiatives must be taken to curb the rising crime will not be enough, to make it real proper and strict action must be taken.
In the 21st Century where women are also working in the office and in every sector, yet in Tripura in various parts women are treated like trash.
In the recent past, the State has witnessed a rise in crime against women ranging from gang rapes or rapes to sexual harassment. The figure may be just the tip of an iceberg as numerous other cases were either not highlighted by the media or went unreported for various reasons.
However, despite the State Government’s steps to curb crime against women, the cases were being reported from across the state, almost on daily basis.
It seems like apart from organizing workshops and seminars, police must also gears up in full force to curb down the rising crime against women.
The rise in the number of cases has also led to a sense of insecurity among the section of working women of the city as the harassment goes unnoticed at public transport or are ignored especially at the crowded premises, public transportation, markets during the peak hours where modesty of women is outraged almost at every step they take.
It is to be mentioned here that even on Tuesday a case came in to limelight where a 14-year girl has been raped by a 22-year old boy. In another, incident a 40-year man raped a 9-year old girl.
Similarly, there are many cases where house wives are burnt to death and are being brutally beaten up but Tripura police reform moves at snail pace.
