Chit fund row: High Court Chief Justice | AGARTALA, Aug 12 (TIWN): Newly appointed High Court CJ T. Vhaipai recently order SIT to lay stress on submitting fresh affidavit to the court with the details of estimations of movable assets of the companies and their top level functionaries. Earlier Tripura High Court had expressed its displeasure over functioning of Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to investigate the cheating cases of Non Banking Financial Companies (NBFC) in the state. A division bench of High Court, comprising former Chief Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice U B Saha, had directed the SIT to submit an affidavit again, with details of the estimations of movable assets of the companies and their top level functionaries. The SIT stated that only in 32 cases it could assess the amount of movable asset but did not give detail about the estimation and value to the court. The High Court directed the SIT to re-submit the details before next hearing scheduled on June 30. Earlier, hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL), the court had directed the SIT to ascertain the asset details of the companies against which the depositors had lodged complaints with the police and the administration. | 12-Aug-2016 |

First RoRo trial train service inaugurat | AGARTALA, Aug 12 (TIWN): IOCL official on Friday marked the inauguration of the first RoRo train service from Churaibari railway station with petrol and gas bullets which is launched in Tripura on a trial run to end the acute crisis of petrol in the state. It is to be mentioned here that the train is launched on a trial run in the state. With total of 21 tankers including 19 petrol tankers and 2 gas bullets entered the state to meet an end to the acute crisis of petrol in the state. However the inauguration was marked in presence of senior Division engineer JP Nigam, Area Manager Badarpur NK singh, IOC Depo Manager Dharmanagar Abitabha Chowdhury, Director Food P Basu, E Director Dipankar Roy and others. Fulfilling the promise made by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu at Agartala on 1 st August to help the state of Tripura mitigate the fuel crisis, the Northeast Frontier Railway has started a Roll On Roll Off (RoRo) service to carry trucks loaded with fuel on flat-wagon goods train for Tripura. The road connecting Tripura with Assam had been in very poor shape creating serious bottleneck in transportation of commodities including fuel into Tripura. This had resulted in serious fuel crisis in Tripura. The RoRo scheme introduced by the Railways will help the loaded trucks to piggyback on goods train to bypass the damaged national highway near Churaibari. Getting informed by secret sources Telimuara police led by SDPO Shyamananda Sharma, Teliamura PS O/C-Siddhartha Shankar, Mungiakami PS OC Shyamal Debbarma caught a fake currency dealer near TSR Camp, at Chakmaghat area. The culprit has been identified as Samuel Halam, S/O- Darthang Halam. The young smuggler was held with fake notes as well as note making machines and equipments from that area. As per sources, Halam was roaming in that area for long to sell fake currencies. Around 300 children fell sick after taki | AGARTALA, Aug 10 (TIWN): Atleast 300 students have fallen sick after they were administered de-worming tablets at school with the initiative of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare which was launched under the banner of the 'National Deworming Day' -a massive school-based de-worming effort. National Deworming Day is a groundbreaking initiative focused on reducing the threat of parasitic worm infections, a widespread health issue affecting over 241 million children in India alone. Talking to TIWN correspondent, Kadamtala police official said that at least 300 students have fallen sick in different schools after they were administered with De-worming tablets under the de-worming mission in the state. Three hundred children have been admitted to kadamtala community health centre in the North District with symptoms of pain in the abdomen, vertigo and vomiting.The students were given the deworming tablets following which some of them started vomiting and were taken to the hospital. The students mainly complained of nausea.
