To pay tribute to the freedom fighter, Sahid Khudiram Basu Smritirokha Committee hold a rally on Thursday morning which moved across several parts of the streets and gave floral tribute to the statue of Khudiram bose in front of Ujjayanta palace.  The committee also organized several cultural program.

Khudiram Bose was born on 3 December 1889 in the village of Keshpur in Midnapore district of West Bengal.

Khudiram Bose (1889-1908) was an Indian freedom fighter, one of the youngest revolutionaries early in the Indian independence movement.

Bose was born on 3rd December 1889 in the village Bahuvaini in Medinipur district of Bengal.  His father Trailokyanath Basu was the Tahsildar of the town of the Nadazol prince. His mother Lakshmipriya Devi was a pious lady, who was well known for her virtuous life and generosity.

Bose was inspired by the readings of the Bhagavad Gita, which helped him embrace revolutionary activities aimed at ending the British Raj. He was especially disillusioned with the British following the partition of Bengal conflagration in 1909.

In 1902 and 1903, when Sri Aurobindo (who was in the earlier stage of his life a revolutionary leader and ideologue) and Sister Nivedita respectively visited Medinipur and held a series of public lectures along with secret planning sessions with the revolutionary groups; Khudiram was among the teenage student community of the town which was fired up with a burning inspiration of revolution. It was from then that Khudiram took his first steps towards choosing the path that would make him a boy-martyr.

At the young age of sixteen, Bose planted bombs near police stations and targeted government officials. He was arrested three years later on charges of conducting a series of bomb attacks. The specific bombing for which he was sentenced to death resulted in the deaths of 3 persons.
