AGARTALA, Aug 11 (TIWN): CM Manik Sarkar is busy in reviewing the renovation of the town hall and other places but the same CM could not manage few hours from his busy schedule to review the status of the NH 8 (44) which was left in poor condition for past 3 years. It is not only disappointing but also shocking to the common people that being the Chief Minister of a state he could not manage time to review the state of the NH8(44) which has been posing serious threat for the people of Tripura. Highway turned into night mare but being the Chief Minister of state couldnot get time to review the work progress at the highway rather he has got time to check the renovation work of a town hall. Question arises what kind of State Administration is this that a CM has time to supervise renovation work of an ordinary Town Hall but has no time to visit NH-8(44) till day. Neither CM , nor Tripura PWD Minister Badal Chowdhury, Transport Minister Manik Dey and their fat salaried IAS officials yet to inspect NH8-44 damage and take up with authorities. Why? reality bites ?

Is it because to cover up the truth that the highway has turned into death prone zone after state PWD took over the maintenance of the highway and since past 3 years no maintenance is being done which has completely shattered the highway.Chief Minister Manik Sarkar's claims that the Tripura is developing faster than any other state but the poor condition of road mainly NH44 which plays an important role in developing a State speaks opposite.

Prolonged deplorable condition of the road under the years of Maniks regime is deeply questioned with the criticism of NH8-44.

The condition of National Highway has worsened after it was handed over to the State PWD by NHAI, which raised hopes among the commuters that their troubles would meet an end. But their hopes went to vein as the condition of the NH 8 -44 is getting worse day by day. After taking over the charge of maintenance of NH8  -44 the PWD is not working up to the mark.

The poor condition of the NH8-44 has lead to endless sufferings for the people who travel through this road.

After the state PWD department took over the charge of maintenance of NH8-44, the PWD has not work up to the mark for its maintenance. After the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway (MORTH) handed over development and maintenance of 104 km of the Assam Agartala National Highway (NH8-44) to the PWD from Border Roads Organization (BRO) in July 16th, 2013, the condition of theNH8-44 has worsen day-by-day due to negligence of PWD.

State Govt's apathy towards maintaining NH8-44 in proper condition resulted in turning Tripura's lifeline NH-44 into a ditch in CM Manik Sarkar's so called 'golden era' and has turned to death trap and is left in pathetic condition raising the woe of the common people.
