Security tightened across the state ahead of Independence Day celebration

AGARTALA, Aug 12 (TIWN): State Police has kept a hawk-eye vigil over the capital, especially around the Assam Rifles parade ground and the surrounding areas where Chief Minister Manik Sarkar will unfurl the national flag and will deliver speech on the Independence Day.

Security has been beefed up keeping a close check in the vehicles including busses and other passenger cars. The hotels and roads are kept under strict check with the help of sniffer dogs and metal detectors.

As a part of tight security arrangement in the city, the police have set strict vigilant in the check-points of the city.

The live feed from the cameras will be closely monitored to ensure peace in the city.

Earlier West SP said that a fool-proof security plan is in place and we are prepared for any eventuality. People from the general public are requested to cooperate.

Special checking of all vehicles, both private and commercial, entering State from neighboring states through border entry points is being carried out, added.

Besides, BSF jawans are keeping strict vigilance along the 856-km long Indo-Bangla border. Going by the increase in number of infiltration attempts in the recent past, extra care is being taken to keep a check on such activities as well.

Paramilitary forces are conducting search operations in the interior parts of the state. Besides, security will also be tightened at the airport soon.

Along with the nation Tripura will also observe 69th Independence Day on August 15, following which preparation has already began for the parade at Assam riffle ground. Preparation is on the full swing to observe the 69th Independence Day in great enthusiasm and national fervor.

According to program schedule the day would dawn with special tributes to the freedom fighters for the integrity, solidarity and development of India. The 15th August is a national holiday in India.
