AGARTALA, Oct 8 (TIWN):For development of professional skill of state lawyers, the 13 finance commission have granted more 1.5 crore of rupees. The High Court of Tripura in an order on Tuesday sought detail written report from the state government how the amount was spent. Besides, Chief Justice Deepak Gupta also expressed displeasure over the state’s failing to dispose lesser importance cases pending in courts.
From 2013, an initiative was taken across the country to dispose lesser importance cases. The prime motive of the litigation policy was to dispose of lesser importance cases so that hearing of importance cases can come up for justice.
For implementing the policy, a committee was set up in the state but the performance is unsatisfactory stated Chief Justice Gupta. From 2013 litigation policy is affect in the state but main cases are kept at “ adjourn sine dire” causing problem to regular function of courts.
On September 17 last, the committee proposed disposal of such cases But the division bench of Chief Justice Deepak Gupta and justice S. Talapatra was not pleased. By an interim order, the division bench for proper implementation of litigation policy issued some guidelines to the state committee and district level committees. As per high court guidelines the litigation committees should perform their work. The case will come up for hearing after eight weeks in high court.
Besides the division bench also directed the state government to submit an affidavit how the granted amount over one crore rupees was spent for developing the working skills of state lawyers.
