Two-day Chabimura festival on January 12

Agartala, January 9 (TIWN): With the initiative of Tripura Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) and Amarpur sub-divisional administration in collaboration with various departments, two-day long Chabimura Festival is scheduled to begin at Chabimura ground on January 12.

Tourism Minister Ratan Bhowmik would inaugurate the festival on the bank of the river Gomati at Rajkang ADC village under Amarpur block. Chairman of Amarpur Block Advisory Committee (BAC)- Sarbojoy Reang would preside over the function.

Sabhadipati of Gomati Zilla Parishad- Suniti Saha would grace the inaugural ceremony as chief guest while MLA Manoranjan Acharjee would attend the programme as special guest.

To mark the festival, Information and Cultural Affairs Department would stage several traditional cultural events by the people belong to different tribes of the state on January 12 and 13 respectively.

It is to be mentioned here, with the joint initiatives of Amarpur sub-divisional administration, Amarpur BAC and Jamatia Hoda two-day long Poush Sankranti Mela is scheduled to be held at Chabimura on January 14 and 15 respectively.

Chabimura is famous for its panels of rock carvings on steep mountain wall on the bank of the river Gomati. Chabimura is situated 34 km away from Udaipur and 85 km from Agartala.
