 West district aims to generate average of 50 mandays by March

Agartala, January 8 (TIWN): Altogether 32, 72, 291 mandays have been created under MGNREGA till January 05, said District Magistrate, West- Abhishek Singh recently in a review meeting of West district Zilla Parishad. A total of 96034 families were given job card facilities while 87495 families were given works under MGNREGA in West District, he said.

Speaking in the meeting, Singh further said, an average of 37 mandays have been generated till January 5 while the concerned authority aimed to create an average of 50 mandays in West district by March, this year. All the ongoing works under Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) has to be completed by this month, he said.

 In the meeting, representative member of Drinking Water and Preventive Medicine Office- Biswajit Chakraborty informed that sanitary toilets were created for altogether 5330 Below Poverty Line (BPL) families in last three years and 634 sanitary toilets are under construction in West district. Besides, initiative has been taken to provide sanitary toilets among 15308 APL families, he added.

The district coordinator of West district Literacy Association- Shekar Ranjan Chowdhury informed, overall 786 Continuous Education Centers and 305 new students are there in the West district at present. Under the Skill Development Programme, trainings on different subjects were given to 1682 students till December 31, 2014, he added.

 

The review meeting was presided over by the Sabhadipati of West district Zilla Parishad- Dilip Das while Senior Deputy Magistrate, BDOs of different blocks, chairmen and vice-chairmen of Block Advisory Committees (BACs) and officers from many other departments attended the meeting.
